Is multitasking just another word for toxic productivity?

article image placeholderUploaded by @KeiseanRaines
Sometimes it's better to do absolutely nothing than to try to convince yourself that you need to do absolutely everything. The idea of toxic levels of productivity is something that I'm becoming more and more aware of. I call it the side effects of working in corporate America since I was a teenager and then finally becoming an entrepreneur in my mid thirties. I use to do lists, I use planners, I use digital calendars

What does it really mean to multitask and how does it actually affect our ability to be productive?

A lot of people pride themselves on juggling, and they pride themselves on saying, oh my God, I'm so busy I can't think it's this thing. And I learned at a very young age how toxic it is because I had a professor in college who retired when I was there, and I met her on the street like, I don't know, six years later, an older woman, a dance teacher actually, and I said, hey, nice to see you

Being quiet is just as beneficial

Okay, just listen to the swell featured here. Just heard your swell about having way too much to be yourself, placing on your own daily log to make sure that things get done, and how you're kind of setting yourself up for failure if you don't get everything finished. When it comes to corporate America by someone who used to work in it, I kind of still do

And so essentially he was saying your brain might focus on one task, let's say at 85, 90%, and then the rest at 10% to 15%. So you're not really doing those other things well. So you might as well create a realistic productivity list that is meaningful and purposeful and intentional. Now, health care carries on, right? And it's really hard to make changes when there's also the other balance of the health care system needs to produce an income

But I've had so many days in my life where I've not planned for anything to go as it did. And that shows me that I'm not in control completely. Above all else, I have to trust and I have to have faith that everything is going to work out for my best favor. And I believe that productivity can be toxic when we use it as a form of control over ourselves and over others
