"I'm sorry. My autism is showing."

article image placeholderUploaded by @SeekingPlumb
I'm so sorry. That supposed damning diagnosis. Damning label. For many, autistic is actually a celebration, something to say congratulations for. And if you talk to a bunch of autistic individuals, many will say they would never change the way that our brains are wired. And I'm one of them. And I'm not sorry for who I am

Trigger warning: This might hurt. #autism #livedexperience #ActuallyAutistic

@SeekingPlumb: a spectrum perspective. Wow! β™₯️

And I can tell you that watching his development through learning therapy and stuff like that, because they had initially classified him as nonverbal, has been nothing short of amazing to come into an understanding that the groans, the grunts, the growls, the really cute growls of his adolescent and his infant years and toddler years were not just this were not a disability, they were his attempt to communicate in a community, a family, and in a world that did not possess the faculty to understand what he was trying to communicate

Thank you for sharing this. It's a very nice topic, and we need to talk about these topics. Man, you say you're 47. Normally, ladies don't, you know, let out the rage, but you were kind enough consider me a younger brother. I'm a year or two little more younger. I just want to say one thing. I experienced maturity in the last just two or three years. And that was also my sister
@SeekingPlumb

@lwatsonjr (Not very clear, but hopefully can be understood...)

But then if we can allow space for someone to just be who they are or from that starting point it's a catch 22, though, because autism is one of those labels that gets locked in. There's little room for that to be a starting point. There are preconceived ideas of a white CIS bail presentation of autism I. E. Rain man or the Good Doctor. And that's supposedly what autism looks like. And so it narrows how one perceives me and how the conversation will proceed

When someone's lashing out as a child, from what I've observed of children, their reaction is not fear or you go away. Their reaction generally is to help. And then as we grow older, I don't know what happens to that impulse. It seems to skitter away somewhere. I think the fact that even with people who have autism, there's like an expectation of behavior patterns. Right. It's so weird

Hello, Christina. More power to you. More and more strength to you. And you know, it is. Thank you for sharing this. I think it's it's an inspirational show there. And like Bennett said, I think it holds true for all of us. It tells us to be as authentic as possible. It tells us it is perfectly all right to be yourself else. And that is what is my takeaway from this post. So thank you for sharing this here

I was thinking much the same dead when I heard your swell. But I wasn't quite in the right mindset to respond. But I really needed to hear it because I was in this state of and it happens every so often. It always passed. When I think, why do I bother interacting with anyone? I'll just go back into my hermit hole and stay there. I just wanted to say thank you

And so then how do we fight against or work with the tendency to do what's necessary to survive within the natural world and then somehow include more nuance and complexity within the human to human world? Not that this are separate, but you know what I mean. So maybe I'm expecting or hoping for something that simply can't be, right? Yes, things change with respect to how we understand things as groups, society and so on

Thank you, Srisia. Thank you, all of you. Because I wasn't I wasn't honestly expecting the sorts of responses that you all gave. I was anticipating it doesn't matter. I'm just very grateful. And I really appreciated the different takeaways and just all of the responses. So thank you so much

I was super emotional while I was listening to you as well and just sort of in awe. I applaud you. And I think I think you're nothing short of amazing. And I have a quote that I found that really, I think just sums up from this. It takes a village to raise a child. It takes a child with autism to raise the consciousness of the village. So thank you

Speaking of emotional, I had to take some time because the tears were just streaming down my face. And thank you for your kind words and for the quote. I had not heard that before. Thank you

I know there are exceptions like of course I do so yeah. I think boxing was necessary but it's not anymore and I think a solution to this probably could be and I've been trying it out it is just like how we have weaponized and competent side I am team weaponized don't see the malice I can detect the malice sometimes and of course the moment I do there will be a distance I will put between myself and the person who is displaying the said malice. However

They're all so busy, they've got the blinders on and there's nothing more important than them. Well, you are raising consciousness about this and you are putting out a very, very articulate, incredibly bright, brilliant string of words that people can understand. I can understand you, therefore it helps me understand other people who have evolved while some of us have been left behind
@SeekingPlumb

@AbsolutePhenom πŸ™πŸ»

I never know how to respond to such kind and generous words. All I've got is a heartfelt thank you and yeah, just thank you
