Focus Take Over - Mindfulness

article image placeholderUploaded by @MHNmaven
And not being aware of this circuitry and how your brain works and knowing that you need to give it pause because you can't be more effective is very important because otherwise we're not utilizing our brain function correctly. So I'm very interested in hearing what everybody has to say on this subject because hyper focusing and not feeding, not distraction per se, but making you go and shut that off and going over to a different topic, which sometimes is a distraction

Now, there's another form of mindfulness, a specific skill that comes from dialectical behavior that's participate. It's of the how skills of how to do mindfulness and participate. By participating fully in one thing in the moment, it's another way of performing mindfulness. In this way, we can maintain our focus on one activity in that moment and thereby achieving a higher rate of focus and at the same time be practicing mindfulness

And I think that this plays a role in being creating that life balance in your world, in your schedule, in your routine. And I think that it can be different for everybody. Everybody can create their own work life balance, but really being on top of it, it takes a lot of practice and it takes a lot of shifts and the ability to change and pivot as you develop and start practicing this healthy work life balance

Hi, Bo. I found your swellcast to be an interesting reminder to all of us about some of the most basic but important things in life that I think we take for granted, particularly as we work for institutions that may talk the talk of encouraging effective work life balance months, but they don't walk the walk, so to speak. What I mean by that is you talk about how important it is to shutting off sometimes and utilizing some of the more important distractions in life to give us pause

So that is the biggest thing there. And when I was listening to your reply, I was thinking of Google. Remember when Google started and their business work life building their facility was so different than other companies across the country. We have never heard of people having a cafeteria and places of rest and places of periodic pause and even having the ability to have a massage or various other things like yoga classes. We were like, what is going on?
