Can a "wounded" person heal/help? Let’s talk.

Such an interesting idea that a person, not someone who's gotten over it, who has recovered, who's recuperated, who has rehabilitated through whatever struggle they had, whatever change agent they experienced, but someone who's still struggling. You find this in, for example, the AA meetings, people who are encouraging other person struggling with alcoholism to fight through it, to get through it, to work through it, supporting one another in almost like a codependent fashion

For a while, I didn't know what was going on, but I tried to remain optimistic and remain positive. And throughout that time, I would always have friends who are going through similar experience, similar experiences, whether it be more tragic or severe or less or whatever

It's just like, Oh, me, me. But no, if you're able to I would say if you're able to and you have the capability of just trying to help another person or just help people when you can, it goes a long way. It really does. But yeah, I'm interested to hear what others have to say. This is definitely an interesting topic. One that and testify on and one that I definitely agree that wounded people can be healers

@lwatsonjr In my Experience Broken people heal broken people!

And sometimes for you, it's hard for you to listen to your own inner monologue and get yourself through that, whatever it is you're going to, but it's easier for you to use that knowledge to help other people get through that thing. So, yeah, I think wounded people can heal wounded people. And I think it's also like a communal thing

@wandering_RiQ: A divorced marriage counselor speaks…THANKS!

That's sort of the internal conflict that I wanted to open up for everyone in this conversation about being a a wounded person, a person who has gone through some type of stress event or some type of trauma event and they find themselves called upon, appointed to help other people who may be themselves in the same

Because I wasn't in a space where I could give someone advice on how to heal and live whole when I was half of a person. Right? I've gotten to a place where now I no longer offer healing advice if I haven't healed from it myself, whatever that may be. It's like listening to someone tell you how to become a millionaire as they sit on the street corner begging for change. It doesn't work, right?

@shaquillenoneal: a bullied person speaks…THANKS!

I certainly hope that it gets more replies and we cultivate more conversation around this because we do live in a world that's riddled with damage and devastation all over. And I ain't just talking about the physical kind, I mean, it's just so much devastation. Neighbors don't trust each other, family doesn't trust each other and all that kind of stuff. And people are protective as themselves. So again, I'm sort of rambling myself, but I appreciate you

@lwatsonjr

No, I 100% agree with what you're saying in your forecast because I truly think that when people experience some type of trauma, some type of pain or some type of struggle, even if they haven't resolved that struggle themselves, it puts them in a space where they can actually help someone else move through it because they are in a good position to understand what that person is going through

@larandle: an overweight exercise coach speaks…THANKS!

So people have that memory of me they have that memory of me being a guy who's really disciplined around running and preparation for running and conditioning and suffice to say, Covet added a couple of pounds and I'm in a doctoral program so I'm not doing as much running and exercising, all that kind of stuff. And of course it's caused for concern but it's sort of on the back burner right now because I just don't have the time

And I know that kind of veers off of the subject, but just know that in my experience, like having that thought process around, I feel that just a certain situation. So how can I be the person to help somebody else do the same type of situation I failed at? I think that also is a form of trauma, because you are actually in a good place to be helping people at something you failed at, because you learned a valuable lesson in that part of your life

@larandle

Oh, LaRandle, I don't know. Like, I haven't looked at it from this aspect before. Right. Because I don't know, the way I don't know. The way I look at it is that I do agree. If you haven't fully healed from a situation or if you are not in the process of healing, I can see why you wouldn't want to offer any advice in that area

"A Wounded Healer." 🙏🏽💭❤️🤓 @lwatsonjr

And some of us, we get to a point where we say enough is enough and we step forward, so to speak, and we start journeying as a wounded healer. And yes, it's suffering along the way as well. It's not a life free of suffering, it's actually a life of studying suffering, living through suffering, trying to understand suffering. And this is where we kind of laterally transferred or crossed over to

I honestly thought you were being sort of condescending but listening to all of your replies I was mistaken.& I am sorry and ty for this thread. 🙏❤️

And I do not think that you have to be completely healed to help another. And that's my two cent for now. I'm not going to record it again. So yeah, that's how I know this is good because a lot of great things and sometimes I cringe, to be honest, but that's good. Something that gets you thinking a little bit uneasy with different points of view, that's a great thing. So thank you
