H2-oh! : Seafaring Souls! You’re Invited to Tell Your Stories of Sailing and Water Adventures

article image placeholderUploaded by @DBPardes
Hello. Being on the water has always been a really big passion of mine, and I've been thinking a lot lately about the stories that I've heard over the years from people who share my interests of the ocean and the rivers and the lakes, any any body of water. And some of those stories I've heard are so amazing. They're scary. They're edge of your seat kind of stories, life hanging in the balance

From NYC to Woodshole MA but not back again…

But you do what you do when you're out in the water, you do stuff. But I had good sea legs. I was a good sailor, actually, back then, but I just started getting more and more aware that this wasn't for me. And you can't just jump ship. Like you don't do that when you're part of crew. You're part of a crew. And I was part of a crew

Stand-up Paddleboard Race 🏁🌊🚢

But I really did try to get over that second wave, and it was way too tall once it reached me and my board. So anyways, it was a huge, awesome experience. I enjoyed every minute of it and all of my family. You can see the second photo. That's my sister with me congratulating me for accomplishing this stand up paddleboard race. Thank you so much for listening

You hi my water story. I love the dame, by the way, the H 20. I used to go to an all girls camp, and that's where I learned how to swim. I initially told everybody I knew how to swim, and that embarrassing moment came where you're really put out there to swim. And we used to have relays, and I couldn't swim, so the swim teacher was actually an ex Marine

But it didn't stop me from shuffling a little more consciously on the way out to sea, whether I'm swimming or boogie boarding or kayaking or stand up paddling. But it's interesting how the pool is almost on a cellular level. It's just something that you love and you still want to do, regardless of risk. I respect risk and danger, but I always thought the odds were against me. But who did I find out?

It is a Google Doc, so I have had folks have issues with opening and accessing the material, so please let me know if the link works and if you're able to access it on this swell. Or you can send me one of those messages on swell however you'd like. And if you're ever in the Bay Area, there are beautiful places to bring your paddleboard

You. Hi. So I want to tell you my water story. I'm a surfer, and being a surfer is you end up spending a lot of time in the water. It's kind of like fishing. You're waiting around for waves. So I've probably spent thousands of hours in the water looking back at the land, looking out to sea

Sometimes I will just go to a lake and I'll just sit there and look at the waves. I love water. Sorry I don't have anything exciting to talk about, but that's my water story

I set a goal 11 years ago to paddle around the entire Delmarva peninsula! #kayakingadventures #kayaking #paddleforever

But somehow the fog burned off really quickly, as if my mom had kind of pulled open those curtains and everything made sense again. So anyway, being able to consistently work towards a goal like this has been the ultimate form of self care. Between switching jobs, moving, buying a house, getting married, starting a family, starting my own business. Life is pretty freaking crazy. And my kayaking is the one thing I truly do for me and only me

Hey, Laura, I think you're on the water right now, achieving your goals. I just want to thank you for being on swell, and your enthusiasm is really infectious. Kayaking is definitely my go to for just joy, pure joy. And I try to go as much as possible at the end of the day. I live in Los Angeles, so I can get out pretty much ten months out of the year
