How much processed food is in YOUR diet?

article image placeholderCognitive decline linked to ultraprocessed food, study finds
A new study was released yesterday linking ultraprocessed foods to cognitive decline. Now, while we have all probably surprised over the years that ultraprocessed foods are not necessarily good for us, leading to obesity and other health issues, I haven't quite seen a linking to cognitive of decline. However, the numbers that were released in this study suggest that the linking may be a lot more significant than previously believed. Now, this study was done in Brazil with over 10,000 participants and was looked at after a ten year span

It might be time to change https://s.swell.life/STDMysMBAEuRykm

And so people who are low income or people who live in areas where they don't have as much access to fresh food, obviously you have to turn to process foods because they're cheaper and they're just more accessible. So that's like another issue kind of regarding this situation too

So I look at the ingredients to make sure they're just made of lovely things. But yeah, I think about people just needing to eat and the low hanging fruits. The things that are processed is so ubiquitous, it's sad. Yeah, there's a lot of food activists out there, thank God, that are really trying to shift this. Yeah, thanks for the conversation

I mean, my daughter was a very finicky eater, and at age 810 and twelve, if it was up to her, she would have eaten that macaroni seven days a week. It's just not easy to get a kid to eat the right things. But thankfully, Katie, you learned, and I'd be curious to know where you picked that up, because my daughter is starting to pick that up as well, and she's starting to eat healthier foods, healthier options

And so I grew up at a time where we cooked all meals at home, and we ate now, when I read the study, it occurred to me that was the difference. And I have made that change over the last several years. In my home, I have completely switched from processors. Of course, we still buy potato chips and stuff like that. There are a few things we do buy

Hey, Phil, I'm glad you posted this food for thought. Ha ha. Pun intended. I don't think I'll change my behavior based on this study because like Sudha, most of my meals are made from scratch. And even the prepared food or the convenience foods I tend to buy only have four or five ingredients. They're usually not have preservatives or coloring in them. I because happen to live in a foodie town and have the affluence to spend the money on healthy food

Hey, Jennifer. This post is so important and I love that you have the compassion you have for the process of getting off of processed foods, having worked with so many people, knowing that it's it's such a shift. The body become so addicted to the salts and the sugars and the carbo loads and just the taste of things that are so overly wrought with artificial flavors. Their taste buds have to be retrained

But also just knowing that I was making that change for myself and I was treating my body in a more respectful way. I think that had a really positive impact on me. But another thing you brought up is that some people in some communities just don't even have access to healthy food. If you think about inner cities and predominantly minority based neighborhoods, they might not have a supermarket with produce within like, two, three, 4 miles of where they live

@Phil #diet #health #meatbaseddiet

As the study shows, there's highly processed food and just about everything we come across, and that is one thing we just need to stay away from. I believe the elimination diets are probably the best case scenario for us. And if you want to eliminate meat and just eat fruits and vegetables, I think that is you taking control of your health, and I commend that. I want to take control of my health by eliminating vegetables and fruits and just eat meat

I know for myself that my body loves fruits and vegetables and fish, and that's the way I live my life. Very rarely do I have anything that's processed. One thing that's very moving to me about the clarity that you have is that you know how you feel good, and that's really important. When I did research on my own about animal protein versus plant protein. One of the things I really leaned into was sort of the dormant cancer cells that are in all of us

I think if for whatever reason I was feeling that my body needed some fiber, I just maybe wasn't able to have a movement which was needed, I think then maybe I might do a little sharetarian and say, hey, how about some broccoli or some green beans, which are some vegetables that are very low in carbohydrates and still can provide a little bit of fiber. That if I feel like my body needs that

Don't let it sit in my waistline, but use it to fuel my body. I bet that's what's going on for you. As opposed to my body that gets a fair amount of fats from my avocados and my oils and things like that, but definitely not as much as yours. I've never met somebody who is so focused on the meat protein. Three meals a day. Two meals a day. Sorry. It's fascinating

The third one, if you've ever heard of this or not, is a lot of studies are out there showing that basically what they're saying, dementia and Alzheimer's, basically dementia. Is that's the type three diabetes? It's diabetes of the brain because there's so much sugar going into your brain, because they're consuming so much sugar, carbs, processed foods, that we end up failing that way. So I don't know if you've heard that
