Thoughts on Retreats

article image placeholderUploaded by @allowthesun
It just such a magical experience. And the food was amazing. There was a bunch of different conferences and retreats happening at the same time. So highly recommend checking that out. But it just started to get me to think about retreat. And what is it about a retreat that just I always leave feeling so amazing, like, so great, and I strive to keep that feeling in my everyday life

There's like 15 people in under a big tent and these rugs and stuff, and mine was my heart chakra. And so I do resonate with this, like, so much. You want to keep that feeling, but this is what I'm realizing, because I meditate a lot of different ways, and I use crystals and incense and ray tea and kundalini, a lot of different modalities that I use for my healing journey

And I'm so happy that both of you have that experience. It's such a rich experience. I've always thought about people being able to take that Sunday night moment when they're about to leave and try to carry it through to the next time and keep those connections going. And I feel like that connection is here with you guys talking. So it's really meaningful. In August, for the weekend of August 19, I'm doing a grief workshop with eleven other people in the desert

Walking meditating is my daily retreat 🙂

Hey, good morning, Chelsea. Thank you for inviting me to this swell. This is very good. I mean, I love the idea of retreats. I don't know that I've ever been on an official proper retreat like the one you described in Rhinebeck. I've been to Rhymeback too, is very it was many years, years ago. And what I was like maybe some kind of arts and crafts festival. I think boolean cheap or something

There's like, retreats in Costa Rica in different places, which the package is absolutely amazing. But there are local retreats these days. There are lots of options and lots of groups that give you like a nightly retreat. Like the one I went to lasted a couple of hours, but it was with a group of women and we used different instruments, tribal instruments, and we sang and someone did tarot card reading. And what I liked about that is the retreat can be how you want it

Hi, Lisa. Thank you for sharing this. And I love the picture that you shared with the singing bowls. I love singing bowls, and I I think I've only been to, like, one sound healing. I would love to go to another one. And, yeah, thanks for that reminder that you can really create your own retreat. I know your other share below as well. I think that is so smart

They were like, oh, I don't know if we should we really want that. We saw the ad for it. We really wanted to go, we want to shift the price, and then we decided it's worth it, we're going to pay for it. And people can adapt in different ways to that. And I think I'm definitely interested in making these experience more accessible to people

Of course, there's a ruby talks a lot about how she knew she wanted to change the way she was drinking, and she had gone to AA but didn't resonate with that. So she started to meet more people and I guess you would say, like kind of the healing communities and just events that didn't center around drinking, right? Like doing sound meditations or breath work, yoga circles, storytelling, and just places where just alcohol wasn't a part of it

Thank you for your generous response! 🙏🏾 @allowthesun

I think when people when you drink, right, and then you decide maybe you don't want to drink or you want to drink less or like you said to look at your relationship with alcohol, then I think people instantly maybe not people, I'll just speak for myself. You instantly feel like people view you as bad, like something happened and you're bad and this is why you're doing this versus like, maybe without any judgment on anybody else, everybody can do whatever they want

I always came out of every one of them just feeling so at peace and feeling alive, and a lot of times things would come up in a lot of healing, and it was a very safe place with other women, and they're just going connection and then just being in nature. So I personally would like to do retreats. At least I haven't in a couple of years, but I would definitely feel like I'm due to go on a retreat again

And so yeah, I just had that thought. But I'm curious, is there a specific retreat that you remember enjoying the most or what about a retreat? I think for me, the ones that are more based in nature have been the best. And actually, most of the retreats that I go on, it is because I'm connecting back to nature. That's a big part of it for me

The other one was about 2 hours the other way from me and I had found it and I said, you know what, this sounds awesome, so I'm going to go try it out. And I loved it just as much. It was a little different, it was ceremonial, a little bit different types of ceremonies, but beautiful all the same

But people move on and they grow into different things, and God willing, they're doing better things. Just trying to build on where we started from during that time. But again, I made a point in my life now where it's like, I'm just trying to build in regards to not necessarily friends, but I mean, more so just acquaintances and collaborators and things of that nature. And that's actually what I like about this swell thing that I just started doing right now
