Oyster Farming Swellcast

article image placeholderUploaded by @zejacques
Hello there, people of swell. It's jack here. Aka Zhao's. And this swell is signifying a little bit of a change in direction from my typical swells that were just about general things moving forward. I'd really like to feature more specifically my journey as an aquarium, culturalist or oyster farmer. So just over one year ago today, myself and close friend and business partner purchased an oyster farm off of Long Island, New York

Welcome to the oyster farming Swellcast, where i share my journey as an oyster farmer on Long Island, and answer any questions you have 🦪👨🏼‍🌾

Oh, this is so great. I have so many questions I want to ask. First of all, where you? How far offshore are these oysters growing? Or are they right there within miles? And how do you protect your farm from predators, both human and natural? Hi

But we've got fish, crabs, other crustaceans, lots of shells, sponge, seaweed. Over time, the week to months that we leave it under the water growing, everything else grows around it. So one of the first things we do when we bring the cage of oysters up on the boat is we usually open the cage and let all the little fishes out that have been in the cage. We throw them back into the water. And then there's lots of crabs
