Cherry Blossoms

Her love of Asian culture is what inspired her to push for the importation of cherry trees to the United States. For 24 years she was a regular site in the Office of Public Buildings and Ground petitionings of the Superintendents for the Cherry Tea Tree project. For 24 years, she was rebuffed. Her efforts were finally rewarded in 1905 when she hosted a cherry blossom viewing session and caught the attention of David Fairchild. The following year, Fairchild imported 1000 trees from Japan for use on his property in Maryland

You're. Hey, Bob, what a great post. Thank you very much for sharing this brief history of how cherry blossoms arrived in the states. And I was lucky enough to see this blossom three times in my life. Lived in Chicago for almost 23, 24 years and then migrated back to India, but regular visitor to the DC area. So, yeah, I know what you're talking about and what a sight it is to see these trees

Hey, I wanted to tell you, too, that I just arrived in DC. A couple of weeks late, but very excited. They're still in bloom, and I have a wedding this weekend, so I'm going to definitely take time on Saturday to walk. And I will take some snaps and I will bring them back here to all of you. Thanks

Here's those cherry blossoms I promised. They're not as big as they were two weeks ago, but I caught a glimpse from my car
