Jelly in coffee? What?!? ☕️

article image placeholderUploaded by @Tim
What is this? What is going on? Hey, it's Tim in Berkeley, California. And today, as I was standing in line at a bakery I noticed this sign on the sidewalk for the coffee shop next door. They are advertising Brown sugar jelly to put in your cold coffee drinks. I don't know what this is. I understand putting sugar in drinks. Brown sugar, that's a stretch. But brown sugar jelly? Why would I put jelly? What is the appeal?

@Tim 🤔

Okay, this is the first time I've ever heard of this, and it was so weird. You sent me down a rabbit hole. And after some digging, I think it's like an alternative to the little boba round things that you put put in tea. But this is brown sugar flavored. I can go in multiple drinks. I don't know. Don't quote me on that, but that sounds a little better than what I was thinking in my head. I don't know

But I am curious, and if I did see a piece, I would go investigate. We're talking about Pete's now, and I haven't talked about pizza in a long time, so truly, I'm leaning towards this is a marketing thing. They probably I'm guessing they got it from somewhere in Europe, the idea, and now they're bringing it to America. Anyway, I might just have to go try it just to let you go. Guys all know what the deal is

I suggest a liter and a half of it. Then you're going to need some jelly powder. Ideally, you might want to use chocolate, a couple of sachets, whatever. Then you need some brown sugar in proportion about 500 grams. Then you need a couple of eggs, ideally from chickens that have been brought up humanely. And then you might need a little bit of fragrance to add to it. So I'd suggest pandan leaves are really good as a flavor

Bubble Tea spin off methinks.

Don't you have a pizza in Berkeley? They would definitely be an influence in this trend of brown sugar jelly for coffee. I hope all is well in California. Here in Ireland, days are exceptionally long, as you have in California. California. But pleasantly mild, rarely above 75 degrees. Bye for now. It's

I am hopeful

Hello, everyone. I'm very happy you've waited in here. And I will say, Bernie, I think you're right. I think brown sugar jelly is actually not jelly as we think of jam or fruit preserves, but it is a form of bob, of a solid, gelatin like packet that sinks to the bottom of your cold coffee drink. I don't know why. I think it's from Singapore
