#InterviewAGuest | Use the Q&A feature to interview guests on your Swellcast

article image placeholderUploaded by @DBPardes
So to kick this off, we're having interview a guest week, and this is to showcase the feature, and it also encourages all of you to conduct interviews on your Swell cast. First of all, I want to talk about why you'd want to interview somebody on Swell. And for me personally, it's been an extraordinary experience. I've done over 100 interviews on Swell, and they've been all kinds of people scientists and luminaries and directors and people like Stephen Wozniak and Stephen Fry

Start a New Swell. Include person's name and photo. Include #InterviewAGuest

And also mention the topic you'll be talking about. And don't forget to add the hashtag Interview a guest, please. One other tip if you want more people to join your interview and ask questions of your guest, you have to let them know that they're welcome to ask questions. Also, it's really fun to have multiple people asking questions. For example, your title can be hashtag Interview a guest. Join me in interviewing my friend Humphrey Bogart and discuss seeing the movie Cachablanca

Use the Advance menu to set it up as a Q&A Swell

It's. Okay, now, after recording the main swell, you're going to click on next and there's an advanced option. Then you tap on it and you select the QA option. And then post a swell like you always do

Add your questions

Okay, here's the fun part. Now, you go back to the Swell that you just posted, and you'll see this new blue ask button on the top, okay? Use that button to ask your questions, and you add each question one by one, so each question gets added separately. And note that if you have asked others to join, you might get questions from other users while you're doing this, which is really great for your Swell

Invite your guest

Now that your Swell is up and ready for your person to come and hear it, you have to invite that person. Okay, there's a couple of ways to do this. If they already have a Swell account, then you simply use the Invite Existing Swell Users feature and invite them inside the app. Otherwise, you can invite them using Invite Your Contacts feature or by simply sharing a link to the Swell to that guest, whether it's in tech, text, or an email

Thank your guest

And that's the really cool thing about interviewing somebody is you never know where it's going and it could go into all sorts of things and new Swell and everyone could kind of riff on what's happening. I just love this format. I'm really excited that you took the time to listen to this and we're all looking forward to hearing your interviewer. Guest Swell cast now and in the future. It's really a great way to include more voices here on Swell. Thanks so much

Thank you for the exciting new feature, period. I am already lining up my first guest for my interview and it's going to be a big part of my swell cast on a regular basis. Again, thank you so much for this new feature

You. Hey, Deborah. This is awesome. Thank you so much for giving us all the details on how to utilize this new feature interview a guest. I am looking forward to trying it out, and I think it'll be great. A lot of great options and a lot of possibilities. So thanks again. Be blessed

@Joshawah_Ross

And then you post that, that short introduction. And then when you reply, it's actually a ask button, and each ask could be up to five minutes. But what you want to do is keep the Q and A at a clip so that if I listen back and you've left five questions in a row, I hear them and then I reply in line with each question. And you'll get that there's limitations here because someone can't reply to my reply

AMAswell?

Hi, Deborah. Thanks for this explanation. Yeah, this feature looks really great. It's so funny because my first full cast I posted this weekend, and so I think the feature was already enabled, and it's the one that I basically use to get a lot of the creators who are competing over at my paid Steamulater to come in and utilize to respond to the question. So I'm basically having creators who are nontraditional scientists come in and learn about what I do, which is protein design

@steamulater

Hey Dr. Mock, I just love what you posted. It's so amazing to see this use case. I want to talk about AMA. And the QA was designed for perfect AMAs. So here's how I've done it in the past. You do a mother swell and you do it yourself. Or if I'm presenting somebody, I say, hey, this is an AMA from Mr. Muck. Load your questions here. I use the AMA feature so the button says Ask

Hey, crew. Hey, it's Renee. Hi, Deborah. I am in love with well, I am learning slowly, but I do like the new things that you guys have added. And I have a question. So if I want to interview someone, is this going to be live in terms of them responding to questions or is all of this pre planned? Just helping me help me out a little bit here, maybe slow, but I just need to get some information. Thank you

@Heykrewehey #interviewAGuest

Hey, Inez. Nice to hear your voice. Yeah. Everything on Swell is recorded. So the live aspect is a matter of how you look at time. So when you choose the interview option, which is in the advanced section, you ask your first question after you do the introduction, then you reply again and that's ask a question. You ask the question question. That's the second swell on your swell. It's the second section of your swell
