BARBENHEIMER - let’s chat about it

article image placeholderUploaded by @rocio
It's so funny to me, the accidental marketing smash hit that is Barbie, like, polar opposite movies from critically acclaimed directors premiering the same day and setting pop culture and mainstream social media like Ablaze. But there's something about it, about how far it actually spread. It makes me think about how much we crave ritual and communal experiences, even if it's something as silly as everyone wearing pink to the theater. And I did it

And I watched a lot of interviews with him in the cast, and they all insisted that if you live near one of these theaters, absolutely, that is the way you must watch the film. So I kind of bit the bullet on doing the barbenheimer thing, and I'm doing Oppenheimer as it was intended. But I have to wait. I can't go until August 13, I think it is. So it is what it is

I'm not going to spoil it, obviously, but I really enjoyed Oppenheimer and I bet it will look just so fantastic in its intended format. So I'm excited for you and, yeah, let me know how it is. I'd love to hear your take on it. Thank you for your reply

So it was kind of cool to have that experience, too, where it wasn't one of the big fancy theaters. I still haven't seen Oppenheimer. I probably won't. It's not something that I just think emotionally, I don't think I can handle that movie. And so it's so funny when I saw there's a trend of people seeing both, and I saw articles being like, don't do it. It's too much for your emotions

So I've experienced both movies and I loved them both. I loved them both, actually, surprisingly equally, which I was thrilled by. And the Barbenheimer phenomenon, I think it's weird because in some respects, I expected something like this to happen because of the sort of shift in cultural trends over the last three or four years where Marvel and DC and the superhero trend were all dying. I mean, it's not even really a question

Personally, I found the entire Barbara and highway thing to be so funny from just well, at first it was an outside perspective. Initially, I didn't even really plan on seeing either movie, but then some of my friends suggested that we go see well, specifically, they just wanted to see Barbie
