The Development of Reggae as Black History

article image placeholderUploaded by @Ragafari
And of course, Bob was one of the first international stars from Jamaica who could tally more than one hit song to his name. He was the reigning king of reggae throughout his life and even in his afterlife. Other recognizable names from this era are Jimmy Cliff, Peter Tosh and Ken Booth. Unlike its predecessors, reggae became the voice of the oppressed slave descendant in the New World and the alienated colonized natives of the African continent. Today, reggae is seen as the promulgator of universal racial and social equality

He was to reestablish God's kingdom in Africa, freeing all African nations, ultimately bringing unity and prosperity to the continent. It will be for future generations to see if Ruth Reggae will evolve over time along with the global status of Africa and her peoples. When Africa and her children around the world are finally united and are equal partners with other peoples, perhaps the music's focus will shift. Who knows? Rastafarianism may become a universal movement in cooperating scenes such as Garvey, Gandhi and Mao

Hey, Malaika. I just wanted to thank you for this absolutely comprehensive journey. I really, really enjoyed listening and I wanted to ask you about modern day reggae for you with regard to the evolution and what you feel is a example of today's reggae, I'm assuming the fusion is really quite amazing. How I know the fusion of different musical styles sometimes pulls away from the original aspects, but it's so exciting when we see things that are kind of cross pollinated

Thank you. Well just responded to Madame Pardes. Reggae has become so universal now that it's quite hard to define or pinpoint sometimes. And some of my favorite reggae songs may not even be performed by reggae artists. For example, George Michael's soul free. That's the title of the song Tujiko B-P-R jay is performed by Indian artists Rab Kerry and Salman Khan. And perhaps this is raga rather than reggae. I'm not sure
