Dont discourage a dream! Sidenote: That is my son (at 13 years old) in the pic. Took me a lot to convince him to take this pic! I STILL LOVE IT!!

Hello, swell community. I was just thinking about something. Someone reminded me of my college experience, which God has been years ago. But when I was in high school, I was going to vocational school for word processing. And. And I did that because I had extra time in the day. And why not? I had nothing else to do and couldn't see just leaving halfway through the day. So I went to career center and I was there

Words have power! Be a force of GOOD to young people!

Jacqueline, I feel like I want to broadcast this to every counselor in the country. I'm glad we're having this conversation. Your story is so, first of all, so personal. Thank you for sharing it. And also, it could be revelatory for counselors who kind of might be doing things to cause motivation. But to your point, you would have felt that there's other ways to motivate somebody besides bashing them down. For sure

And I don't understand why any counselor or anybody who's in the position to do that, to motivate kids or to push them to be better would ever say that to somebody. I have two children. They're both adults now, but I can't imagine saying to my kids, oh, well, if I had the opportunity, I would give this to somebody else because I don't think you're going to be worthy of it or you're going to do what you as a mother
