Topic Tuesday - Empathy

article image placeholderUploaded by @MHNmaven
You can literally, by being empathetic and showing empathy to someone, make yourself alive and make them alive. There is nobility in compassion, a beauty in empathy, and a grace in forgiveness. That's John Connolly. Nami. But how beautiful are those words? So, empathy, empathy, empathy. This is basically your emotional ability

I definitely agree that empathy is very needed in this world today. And just the fact that you are out here trying to ensure that people know that they are not alone when we go through this everyday struggle in this everyday life. I know. Me personally, even though I have a support system, it just really feels good when somebody is there and they're with me walking hand in hand to say hey, look, I got you. You're not alone. We're in this together

Where do you draw the line? @MHNmaven

Hey. Good evening, mavenbo. Thanks so much for sharing and inviting me to this wonderful podcast on empathy. Yes, could agree more. Here's a follow up question on empathy. So how do you know or where do you draw the line between empathizing and sympathizing? Where you draw the line between being flexible and being taken advantage of? And how do you draw the line? This is what love to hear some of your thoughts on that. Cheers

You are most certainly welcome and I wanted to let you know actually that I am my document in higher education leadership. And yes, I do believe that education is very, very important and open doors that allows us to show our talent. Like it's one thing to be able to get into a door on your talent alone, but sometimes you have people who want even answer the door when you're not just because you don't have that education

So I think we just get that way, even though I know these things. I mean, nobody's perfect. Perfection doesn't exist, by the way. It doesn't exist at all. It's a manmade thing. There is no such thing at all in this world. Perfection just doesn't exist. So it's just a made up thing meant to mess you up on your path. And we just don't listen to it because we all get these automatic negative thoughts

@aayanman

When you're an empathic person and you're having empathy for someone, you let someone stand in their grief and share and speak and you stand in silence so you can understand what they're going through and feel what they're going through and only speaking when it's necessary. So there's the difference between sympathy and empathy and it's not really the taking advantage, although the taking advantage because there are a lot of narcissists and energy suckers in this world, lots of them

You first look for three things they see around you and call them out. Then you have three things that you can hear. So you quiet down and you listen to three things around you. And then you move three things on your body like wiggle your toes, wiggle your fingers, move your shoulders, whatever it is that you want to do. Turn your head side to side doing physical three things

Empathy is earned

I don't trust when it comes to me, and I'm sure it has to do a lot with this job and me coming to this job, sometimes 810, 1214 hours a day, working at a mental institution in the ghetto, you see the worst. And even just for my personal spiritual beliefs, I don't believe in that kind of thing
