Inspiration in the operating room

Hello, everybody. This is Anthony Covent, your physician, anesthesiologist and integrative medicine specialist here. I want to start to thread inspiration in the operating room room, which I know sounds like an oxymoron after all, why would you be in the operating raining room unless you are really sick?

Inspiration and the OR.. oxymoron, no? Hear stories from my patients who bring their self-healing to surgery for a synergy to thrive off 🩺

Excited !

I'm so looking forward to this. I've just sent this to a few interested parties, some friends at Kaiser, actually. And this is great. Super excited. Thank you

And I used a lot of positive imagery guidance, and attestations I did a lot of yoga. I did restorative yoga. I did a meditation, really used my breath and finding my breath, which was extremely helpful in the healing process. And acupuncture, too, really helped. But I did a number of things to really prepare for the surgery. And there is no doubt in my mind that the surgery was successful because of that prep work

Her health coming in to surgery saved her life against anaphylactic shock

But the point that I want to get across is that this lady did not die because she came into the surgery healthy, even though being a minority, she had beaten all the odds in terms of having a chronic disease burden, and we were able to resuscitate her and she had to go to a hospital, of course, to be monitored after the episode. But she was able to walk out. And it was a terrifying experience for the whole center because these are very rare experiences

An elderly patient breaks her arm and suffers a pneumonia.. and beats both

I did very well through her anesthesia and her surgery and swallowing saliva into the wrong pipe around the time of surgery is actually very dangerous and can even cause severe disease and even death in some patients if they have reduced or compromised heart or lung function. But my patient did develop an infection but was able to fight it off. And that's what I found inspirational for somebody who was otherwise healthy and had an entirely normal surgery for an accidental bone break
