Hey, Swell. Welcome to A Little Bit of D. This is my first post on Swell, so take it easy on me. My time on here is going to be sharing some pieces from my first book, Learning to Let Go. It is a poetic memoir, and I'm also going to be talking about all things that relate to Learning to Let Go and those things worth holding on to

Hey, I just want to welcome you to Swell and I love when people read from their work. I'm really looking forward. It sounds like it's a pretty expansive topic, and I love the idea of a poetic memoir just giving us a license to really drop into the art and the beauty of writing while taking away all the details of our lives. It sounds beautiful. Thank you in advance for sharing

You don't have to worry about commas or periods just to lessen the anxiety of having to write something for students is always liberating. I also think that even in the kid world and in the adult world, how free poetry can be, how liberating it can be to put your thoughts, ideas, feelings, emotions, life experiences on paper and what that does for people

Thank you so much for your reply. You're absolutely right. Poetry is so profound because it's actually our opportunity to be more connected in one with ourselves. And again, you're right that it's very intimidating because what we're attempting to do is to be the truest to our emotions, to our experience, to ourselves, while giving strangers, friends and foes alike access to that extremely vulnerable and sensitive place within us

You. Wow, this is really powerful. D I know that this was a response to, I believe, the comment to someone else's comment on your original swell, but I just had to comment too, because I am also a writer and so creative artist. And I know that one of the things that I struggle with is being vulnerable, especially in the age of social media and everything that we have going on right now
