The time a stranger helped me out... it touched me and inspired me. I was in awe!

It's the time a stranger helped me out. Wow, that's a story. I was being a single mom. I was a single mom then, and I had two daughters, and things were really tight for me because I'd had a stroke and I was sick, and my kids needed food. And during that time, as you probably maybe don't even know, if you apply for disability, you cannot get workers comp

They're not discerning, no idea how far that cart of groceries is going to go because you don't know who she's trying to feed. And sometimes you got family members that aren't part of your household, the cousins, the niece and nephew, they're hungry, so they know they could come my auntie's house and grab a plate and what you're going to do, turn them away. So those food stamps should not go as far as folks think

I felt like I was a failure. And then I couldn't feed them either. This lady blessed me in a way. I was just in awe. Like I said, why me? Why you picked me? But the Lord must have spoke to her. And you're right, you do have to fight for your disability. You get nothing. You really don't. And you do get denied

I'm just going to join this party here to say how much I appreciate the telling of this story because these kinds of moments when strangers help us and we get to tell that story, it ripples so far out because people hear it and they go, I want to be that person. I want to be that person that Evelyn met because that is what happens when we seek kindness of that magnitude become commonplace. It's because people keep on hearing about it and seeing it's possible

Thank you, Deborah. Thank you very much. Like I said, you know, I'll praise the God, but this lady, whoever she was, God bless her, God keep her. I hope he always provides for her and her family. But it does inspire, it inspired me to give and inspires others to give. You just never know how a person is feeling. You might save their life, literally, you might save their life. You can give them hope
