The Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo began in 1984 and has continued as a traveling rodeo that celebrates black cowboys. The National Multicultural Western Heritage Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, formerly known as the National Cowboys of Color Museum and the hall of Fame, was founded in 2001. Now, present day black women cowboys include Caitlin Gooch, who maintains a horse stable and works to teach black children about black horse culture while inspiring them to improve their reading skills

Evelyn. This was such an interesting swell, I had to go look up Caitlin Gooch, and she's just amazing. I want to paste her website here for anyone to check it out. Thanks

@DBPardes

I am absolutely grateful that you put her website up here. Isn't she something? I mean, being on horses from the age of three? And then she wrote a book. Representation really matters. I really wish I was close to her, because then I could go to her ranch or whatever and check it out. But, yes, anybody that's listening, anybody that wants to know anything more about black cowboys, cow girls
