Why (and how) Did You Start Hiking?

article image placeholderUploaded by @KatWomanHikes
I guess I could say hiking is my obsession, but really my obsession is the appalachian trail specifically. But yeah, hiking is my life. And I have a whole story on how I got started hiking, which I will not bore you with right now. At some point I will if you all want to hear it. But I'm curious as to how you got start hiking and if you go out on backpacking trips, how you got started with that

To my hikers out there: why did you start? Why do you continue? What does it mean to you? #Hiking #backpacking #Outdoors #Trails #Storytime

And I love playing that game with myself where I said, okay, one more tree or one more hill, and then getting there and really appreciating your physical fitness, appreciating what the aches and pains are and also the companionship. Not just with my dog, but inviting friends to go and having that conversation over time, over a stretch of two or 3 hours. It's beautiful. My dog died in 2019, but I still consider myself a hiker without a dog

Hiking is my life!

They did a little bit of hiking that we drugged them on kind of a thing, but they didn't hike. Still to this day, my mom does more than my dad, but both of them need to do more exercise or they're going to die young. And my dad has fully embraced that. So the last couple of years I've tried to up my game a little bit when it comes to hiking and backpacking. We did Grand Canyon, rim to rim to rim over
