The life of a creative person is full of doubt, or I think should be. I always think I I can't be doing my best work if I know exactly how to write a poem before I've begun or even if it's achieved what I want it to by the time I finish. Fame is no gauge. Fame during your life is no guarantee that you'll be read 100 years later or even five years later

Keats died thinking he would be forgotten.

And I know friends have left too soon and I know the feelings they've had and the words they've chosen to share in those times. But on a more bright note, when we create, I think the doubt is part of the exercise. It's part of the scrutiny, it's part of the editing. It's part of the refinement that I think you get more and more comfortable with as you write, as opposed to just putting stuff out there in explosive ways, which has its value

Hi, Deborah. I hope you don't mind if I take my answer to you as an opportunity to say a little bit more about Keats, who is much on my mind. And I'm I'm actually thinking that maybe in a few days I'll just read one of his odes as a swell, since they all take probably about five minutes, or not much less than that

He got into a lot of trouble with the principle and the being and so many aspects, but he never once took a step back from what he believed in. And I remember thinking to myself, Is that it? Is this all what life is? But again, like you said, sometimes the impact of our life happens after our death. And perhaps that is the most powerful way of living. Anyone can live and be powerful, but how powerful are you after your death?

Hi, Geo. I found this response and your story of your friend to be extraordinarily moving and thought provoking as well. And I don't think of myself as a poet or worship, as a teacher, as a philosopher, or somebody who can people how to live their lives. But listening to you, I was thinking that of course, poetry itself is doing both of those things, philosophizing and advising all the time
