How do you take your birthday?

Will you still feed me when I'm 64? And so, although I don't usually post a poem on Mondays, I thought I would post this poem by Timothy Steele. He's looking forward to his birthday. I'm looking back on mine. But the sentiments and the Scotch are the same. It's called on the Eve of a Birthday by Timothy Steele. As my Scotch spared the water, blondely sloshes about its tumbler and gay manic flame is snapping in the fireplace, I grow youthful

And it was my best friend's conscious choice that she said that you are always very giving and when it comes to time, respect, love and staying as a friend and it's high time that you need to have some kind of fun. And she arranged a party, booked a hotel for me and invited other friends of mine and I had a really great birthday and it was good and I hope you also have a great birthday and many to come. Happy birthday again

Smeeja. I'm glad you started celebrating your birthday again. Happy birthday, Catherine. Yeah, that poem is awesome. It reminds me of WS Merwin's on the anniversary of my death a little bit much, just in terms of, like, looking at a date on the calendar and sort of talking about it or not knowing the date on the calendar. In that case, how do I take my birthday seriously? I take it seriously

Hi, Catherine. Many happy belated birthday wishes. I really enjoyed this poem. I actually went back and I've read the poem as well. It's amazing. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. When my birthday rolls around next, I will definitely give this swell a listen and read this poem once again. So here is to the next year, to the best year yet

You. I just want to say happy birthday. Thank you very much for the invite. Felt like I went to the virtual birthday party. That was a great poem. I loved it. And again, I hope you enjoyed your birthday this year. Bye

@DBPardes

Thank you so much, Deborah, for your good wishes. And I agree that people should be celebrating their birthdays. We only have so many of them, after all. I really enjoyed that you went to Merwin as the poem that you thought of in relationship to this one. And I agree with you. But I'm not sure, because the styles are so different, it right that everybody would make that connection. So thank you for giving me a smile with that

Thank you, Smita, for this. I really appreciate the thoughts and the sentiment. And I actually think that when we celebrate our own birthdays, we're celebrating our whole little universe and cosmos and therefore all of our friends, everything that everybody gives to us in our lives, as well as whatever we may have to give to them. So I think you're right to celebrate
