Spring and Fall by Gerard Manley Hopkins

article image placeholderSpring and Fall by Gerard Manley Hopkins | Poetry Foundation
This is equinox weekend, so I did an extra Saturday swell yesterday on the actual equinox reading Keats. And today I'm going to read a poem by Gerard Manley Hopkins called Spring and Fall to a young child. Margaret, are you grieving over golden grove unleaving leaves like the things of man you with your fresh thoughts care for? Can you? Ah, as the heart grows older, it will come to such sights coles by and by nor spare aside the worlds of one would leaf male lie

And it's always so interesting to think about how human and similar we are across millennia and we just are always going to be the human that notices seasons. And you've been talking about this lately on your Are. We are such organisms on so many levels and subject to all kinds of responses to things that are physical around us, but also the nostalgia in our hearts when it comes to these things. So I just want to thank you for a lot. Thanks
