Why do I Iove "Flowers"?

article image placeholderFlowers by Cynthia Zarin | Poetry Foundation
Not illuminate for other people, and how I assembled for myself my own reading, among many possible readings of the poem, out of the specific moments that kept coming back to me and that stayed with me after I had read it. So you'll remember in this poem that the speaker is walking upstairs carrying flowers that have been sent to her. And one of the first things that I realized is that I absolutely read this poem as a love poem

Oh, I love starting my mornings like this, as you know. And hearing you talk about this without me having read the poem was really interesting. Usually I like to read something and have my time with it, and you definitely gave me an entry point. I just love this poem. There's a wistfulness to it, for sure
