Let’s talk salads…meat salads…ok protein salads to be inclusive of tofu.

article image placeholderUploaded by @JordanTepper
Some people would say that a salad is not a salad if it didn't involve ranch dressing. Sometimes I would say, would you like some salad with your ranch? To people. What type of meat salad are you? You can see my picture. I put an egg salad and I put seafood salad, chicken salad, ham salad. But then I also thought, okay, let's say protein salads to be inclusive of tofu. How do you like your salads?

I went through a huge phase for a while where I did Mason jar salads, and I love those, but I get burnt out even though I make them with all different kinds of protein, right. Sometimes I would do it like, Spanish style, where it was almost like a taco in a jar, but just with salad ingredients, of course. Sometimes I would do it like a chicken salad, right? I'd make the chicken salad and put it on the top

Hey, Jordan. This is a great topic. I love salads. My favorite is chicken salad. I like to make my own chicken salad so that it's less processed. But I agree with you. No grapes, no craisins, no no fruit in the meat salad. I don't think fruit and meat salad should ever go together, even if it's on a bed of lettuce. I don't I don't think that that's a good mix. But I do love chicken salad

Have you had curry chicken salad? I found a place, not close to me, but around the same area that does, like, a really good curry chicken salad, but definitely, like, not a lot of mayo, just kind of like, coating it now. I was just also thinking poke. Like a poke bowl. Have you heard of that? It's sort of like deconstructed sushi. It doesn't have to be fish

Then your salad dressing, like, okay, so do you get, like, a creamy salad dressing, or do you get a vinegar, oil based, or do you just use oil, vinegar, and a little bit of lemon? I don't know. This is exhausting. I'm going to need a lap now

Or do I want those ridged carrots, like, whatever they're called? Do I want relish? Do I want pickles? Do I want sweet or dill? Do I want olives? Do I want black or green? All the things. And, yes, I know that shrimp is a crustacean. You are so funny. That made me laugh so hard. I do love shrimp

Yeah, I definitely don't do walnuts in my chicken salad, but I do, like, almonds or cashews or something like that. But this just made me laugh. Like, you want to make me angry in a hurry? Add some walnuts to your chicken salad. Oh, my God. This made me laugh. I appreciate you so much. This was hilarious. I hope you enjoy your salad from Spankies. I hope it's worth every bite

He's not really a Nut fan either, unless we're doing, like, a chartre board, which is a whole nother thing that I'll probably have to do as well on its chartrudery boards, I love them of all different kinds, and I like to make them with different themes and all kinds of fun stuff like that. Very cool. I did not know that you had spent time as a butcher. This is very interesting thread

You. Yeah, I think that putting craisins on, like a steak salad, steak and blue cheese salad makes sense because you're balancing out the saltiness of the cheese and steak in the marinade along with the sweetness of the craisins. I think I can stand with that. Yeah, I'm talking about, like, fruit. More like in a chicken salad or whatever. Sometimes people like to put grapes in that. Yeah, I could totally mess with that. That sounds really good

But they're so freaking expensive. What? Why would nuts be so expensive? And my middle school mind just goes to balls like nuts. I like getting nuts from Aldi's just so I can say I got all these nuts

And I make this really good. Okay, so I make a really good avocado dressing. Super creamy, super good, and it's really good for you. And then I also like to do just like vin negro oil, sea salt, pepper, and lemon juice, which is also another favorite classic of mine. Yeah, that's what I'm at. But both of you, please remember that you are worth the price of pistachios

It's taste the rainbow. So does do skittles count as tasting the rainbow? I love fruit, especially now that the summertime I just go to the farmers market and get, like, all the fruits. It's strawberry season here. Oh, strawberries are so good. But watermelons, that's just red stuff. Peaches. Peach season is now like Carly peaches. This time of year for me is eating all the fruits and skittles

You. Okay, I know you love Carly, but come on. Stop being a brat. No, skittles do not count as tasting the rainbow. Did I mention skittles in my reply? I think we should all do it and then see where we end up in, like, the next 30 days

Okay. I don't know if I can commit wholeheartedly. Honestly. I don't know if I can commit wholeheartedly to eat the rainbow without there being some skittles. I eat a s*** ton of fruit, but it's hard for me to even remember to eat lunch. Like, sometimes I just get wrapped in my day that I'm like it's, like, 03:00. I'm going, wait a minute. Why am I starving? Oh, I forgot to eat lunch

I don't know. It just doesn't make sense to me in my own head. Go figure. I love a Caesar salad. Love Caesar salad. Love a garden salad. I like the chopped salads you get at the store that have just more crunch to them with sunflowers in them and stuff like that. Those are awesome. Them. Love egg in my salad. Egg is good in a regular garden salad, dressings go all over the place. So I tried just about everything

You, girl. Taco salad all the way. And especially when it's made in, like, a crispy, like, taco shell. Like, oh, that tastes kind of like a tortilla chip. All day, I totally forgot about taco salads. How did I forget about taco salads? Like I said, I used to make the Mason jar version of it, but when it has the taco shell with it stop up it. Now I feel like I need to eat a taco salad

What do words even mean? Renee, thank you for bringing up a Caesar salad. I will enjoy a Caesar salad when I go out to eat because that's the one salad we don't make at home. We just find the dressing too fussy to make. My wife is a genius when it comes to making salad dressings at the drop of a hat without a recipe. And Caesar dressing is a little tricky, so I will order that

Then the next thing you do is just put it in the trash because kale is gross. Do you see where this goes, man? So, yeah. Thank you. Thank you so much. I did put a link in the description. I hope that works. So you can see some more meat salads. And please look at some of my other food swells so you can see how far the rabbit hole we actually go down

It. Okay. So did you know that the Caesar salad was actually invented in the 1920s by an Italian chef who chef who owned an Italian owned a restaurant in Tijuana, Mexico, and so he moved to Tijuana from California to avoid prohibition. And it was there where he invented the Caesar salad because, well, his name was Caesar and it was not like anything that you see really in a Caesar salad. Today, I would look it up. It's pretty interesting
