Storytime 1973

article image placeholderUploaded by @Jeremiah73
It seemed like 100 miles an hour straight back into the garbage pit, which was on fire. The trailer went completely into the pit and the truck went about halfway into the burning pit of garbage. I jumped in the truck and put it into the lowest gear possible and it just grabbed barbed wire and such and wrapped it around the axle. I exited the truck when the rear tires started blowing up from the heat

Oh, to be a fly on the wall to go back in time. 1923 crank firetrack still around and being used as the fire truck for this purpose in 1973. Like baffling. But I can't even imagine what it must have felt like to be in that situation and feeling at a loss, let alone, how do you stop it? And then I sort of imagined this hose, sort of not quite. I don't know what the word is. I want trickling out

Yeah, I agree with Christina. It's amazing that that was repurposed and used at that time. Great story. And I'm just proud of you for keeping your head on your shoulders, because it's so traumatic to be in a space like that where you want to be in Grace, and, like, okay, what do I do next? But you prove that you are able to just remember it as a story

And so he came and he pulled it out. The truck was a total loss, as was the trailer. All the electrical wiring, all the hoses, everything. There was one tire that hadn't exploded. It was, I think, the passenger front tire. It was a total, total loss. And we drove back that bunch of miles back to the gas station, and I'm just sitting there just petrified. And he says, well, you beat yourself up enough, stuff happens
