POV: Kanye offends Blacks, crickets, he offends Jews, everyone cancels him…?!

article image placeholderUploaded by @iamdeeshields
You can call out people for their wrongdoing. It has nothing to do with your music. Now, I understand when it comes to spending your money on the clothing, never bought anything easy, so I can't relate. But yes, you do have a fine line that you have to walk. Now. If Yeezy wearing is your lifestyle, you now have to decide what side of the coin you stand on. So what are you guys thoughts about that? How? Nothing

Before canceled was a thing from Public Enemy and this is a black militant group that's very extremist in their point of view and it was too extreme for even them. So that's a great point you bring up very telling about Balenciaga CAA Adidas standing by gleefully as he had proclaimed to be a god on his Jesus album a couple of years back, black skin heads

Hey there. I just got done listening to your swell, and honestly, the one thing that it really brought up for me is accountability. Right? I think in this case, you're absolutely right. But honestly, I think that it could be applied to a lot of other instances of guess, like celebrity faux pause, if we will call them that

And I found it interesting when the baby mother, Kanye's wife or exchange wife or however it goes with him and Kim right now, when she stands up and she denounces the comments and the actions and things that were set against the Jews, but she didn't really call out Kanye by name. So I'm kind of wondering where that's going to stand. Are they going to pull a move? Like, the only person that can fix this is Kim Kardashian

And we need to hold especially those who have a larger platform, we have to always hold them accountable for the things that they say. Even the smaller people were held accountable quickly by people in our circles for if we say something and it's out of line. So those are on a larger platform with more people that they can influence across the globe

Let's do away with the police. It's not working because of the recent tragic events. And where is that train? Is it still full speed ahead? Or have we kind of, like, just took a foot off the gas? It was pressure that resulted in and these companies several ties with him. Got to do a follow up

They united one brotherin and said, hey, we stand behind him. We ain't gonna do it. You had the incident with the NBA owner. And I remember there was a story behind the scenes and they were going back and forth because they wanted to boycott. I think it was an all star game. They didn't want to play. And there was a lot of back and forth

You dead in your tracks because you began to see that there is some truth to it. How do we get past that? We can't get past that when we talk about it. You got to be at your community meetings. You got to elect officials that represent the community. You have to not only protest without change. I've always said it's a glorified meeting. You're bringing awareness, but there is no change. And you have to keep the pressure on

So there was examples of it still permeating throughout society, but with the Internet, it's like for the first time ever, people get to wear a mask and finally say what they want to really say and hear their grievances and whatnot. I don't really know where I stand on it. I said before, I talked about this on another post where I was conflicted because I still hold Kanye in a certain regard

I think this is a learning curve for us in the black community to really take a step back and see when one of ours does something to hurt us, how do we respond? Do we just kind of slap them on the hand and just kind of forget it? Because us doing that doesn't serve us. And that's how we got here. I mean, people are still kanye is Kanye. He's going to run around and do what Kanye does

She said, do you guys not remember what happened to the Jews? It started with them saying, we didn't like brown shoes. We don't like the fact that people eat grapes, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Man, by the time it was done, they canceled that woman and they kicked off the show because Disney is now owned by Jews. At one point, they thought it to be an anti Semite group itself

And just to cut in for just a moment, I pause just right after you said that about george floyd. To say this george floyd is a trial that I watched before it was a trial. George floyd is an incident that I watched when it was just a viral video on social media. So if you want to use anyone for the facts, I have places and resources that I can send you straight to that will give you actually what happened. Right?

The Bible podcast curious about that for many reasons and the type of topics that you put up. So I'm definitely going to go back over there to check it out and reply. United is something that we need to do. Pull our money out of foolishness is something that we need to do. So I 100% stand behind your thought that we need to invest our money better and we don't need to be always putting it on one item

I think what you're saying is incredibly truthful. And I think that alongside simply as a community, us not breaking down the platform or sorry, stopping him when he was saying all these horrible things and why now, right? Why now now? But I also think that specifically in that sort of area, it's like, why not? But also, why did we even let it get to this point?

So we have to really make sure that there are advisers that are at the table when big brands make decisions to align themselves with sports and celebrities and anybody who's in the realm of huge leaders in their fields, they command huge amounts of money. They become partners for these brands and they can say anything they want, basically because they have way more money now, they're more involved in to do so

That. Thank you for that. Thank you so much for that. That is essential, that's important, your perspective. And it reminds me of growing up in South Africa, in apartheid South Africa. And we watched and watched and waited and waited until finally there was one word that keeps coming to mind when I'm hearing this. Kanye debacle unfold. The one word that happened in South Africa that needs to happen now is boycott. Boycott, boycott

They are just as vocal as everyday Americans. It's just we hear his voice because he's on a larger platform. Everyday Americans walk around saying that. I'm telling you, I have worked for people that say things like that. I just left a job that did not fire a person for calling me the N word, b word, everything else in a high profile, highest profile law firm in Denver, Colorado. And I'm a coworker

We can't sit on the side of judgment and condemn others because they continue to support one artist, one man, former president. Again, two wrongs does not make it right. And so I hope we can get to that place where we're having the discussion, and we may not be able to move from hurt to healing. I will not stand by and allow people to just pile on. Just we talk about it. We discuss it in a constructive, considerate, passionate manner

I first want to start off by saying that I'm really sorry that happened to you. And I and I think that I do see what you're saying. I also see how it is very important, though, that he not only apologizes because I think that it doesn't really matter if he apologizes because I think we've seen before other artists may apologize, but then they'll continue to act that way

So I like to say when I'm talking about, you know, drug addicts and we did this when studying psychology and drug and alcohol class, I love to say that we're talking to the drug. So I'm not going to have an attitude with the addict because I'm talking to the drug. And it's really almost the same thing with mental illness, especially bipolar. I'm talking to the illness

And that is one of the things of how I became a follower of Kanye West back in the day. A follower of Jay Z and a follower of Swiss Beats and different people that will blur the lines just a little bit, but also stay in the lane, but then blur the lines a little bit. So when it comes to the music industry, I'm very used to that part of what you were saying in your commentary regarding words can be hurtful

My opinion I may not be right but this is just how I see it

So I'm going to keep it 100. I'm a type of person. I look in between the lines of everything in Hollywood, and what we see is so many agendas out here that is ridiculous at this point, don't even make no sense to bring up nothing. Because at this point, it's just what he said has some facts in it, and what he said was his experience, you know what I'm saying? So I'm not going to take away what he said
