RESILIENCE | "A Year of Resilience"

article image placeholderUploaded by @hope
Welcome to where the light gets in. We looked at resilience this week, and on Fridays I look at resilience as it shows up in books and movies and films and novels. And I found a book I wanted to share with you by Maureen O'Reilly called a year of resilience 52 ideas to be more resilient and stay afloat throughout the year. I've also included a link, and I want to read her introduction to you

I think the notion that resilience has to be chosen gives us agency. It gives us the ability to know and believe that we can overcome the things that disappoint us or cause us harm. And I think it's really key to remember that you do have agency when you are resilient, and you have to keep doing that. I think that's one of the keys of life, is that this is an automatic. You have to make this choice over and over and over again

Hey, Rich. Thank you so much for your thoughts. You always have great things to say about this, and I do think we need to be reminded. That's why I'm really digging into this cast, because I want to just keep on keeping on. Keep on talking about stuff, keep on adding perspectives so that we keep on feeling like it's okay to dig into this and talk about it in all different ways

#resilience

A brown one with yellow pointed painted on the petal by our gracious maker. I love the resilience of the sunflower. We have two stalks bent to the ground, and they too will blossom even as they grow through what to go through, even if that means laying on the ground, bloom, they will. I can't wait to see their determination to blossom, no matter what. Sunflower season is my favorite season. Their tenacity is a perfect metaphor for life. Bloom where you are planted

And then what comes next versus a book can sometimes be, especially in this type of conversation, too one sided. I think a two sided type of space is really needed for people to be able to have, I think, the momentum they're looking for
