She put a quote in there by a fellow writer named Chris Jafer, I believe, where he says traditions change meaning over to and I'm just paraphrasing, you don't have to feel obligated to a tradition because depending on the individual, it changes meaning over time. There are people who are now single who don't care about the holidays anymore because it reminds them of their family

And as you emerge over time, you say, this is what I want to do this year, and this reflects who I am and my values and my family and my friends. And it's a really interesting thing to mark because every year could be different. But I think the challenge is to rise above some of the mud that kind of keeps us slogging through emotions but to bring a new perspective

So I was just talking about this with the kids dad about Christmas. I was talking about how for Christmas that I may do something different than like the turkey, dressing, ham, all that stuff. Now I was saying maybe something, I don't know exactly what I would like to do, but I was thinking about doing something different

So things have changed for a lot of people. And for those of us who are married, I'm married. It's wonderful, but you have to go through the exchange of, oh, we've been to your family house. Oh, we're going to do this or are we going to do that? So you're going to that exchange, which I haven't been around my own family in ages. Well, except for my sister
