Session 8: Talking During Troubled Times of Dual Realities

article image placeholderUploaded by @GivingVoice
It might be an invitation to say no matter where you are in the world, what is comforting you right now, what foods are giving you a sense of grounding and nourishment of the body and soul. And you're opening this up to have multiple answers, one from someone on a picnic in the middle of Zion National Park, and they're having a great time and someone who's living in a city that might be having food scarcity, but that both stories can live in the same conversation

How do we stay "social" on global platforms where lives are being experienced so differently?

@DBPardes- finding comfort listening to the things we took for granted🙏

And I recall reading a memoir of how soldiers in World War II would write letters to people back home during the times when they were in conflict, and they would ask their families to describe of the warmth and comfort around them. So I guess the biggest way to help in this circumstance is to communicate more and let us know what normalcy feels like

I think such a reverting match in a sporting arena can appear to be totally tone deaf and callous to some people when fellow citizens are fighting a deadly disease. But it is also true that for millions more cricket or cinema or music or anything else does offer a few minutes of solace or a reprieve. And to me these are personal choices that must be respected. While all attempts to empathize and support are appreciated

But it was also a very uncanny reminder of how fluid things are here right now, because even as I was speaking into my phone recording my reply, so many things around are changing drastically, and that kind of shook me a bit, a little bit. And I just wanted to go on and correct myself here and share this update. So yeah, IPL has been called off as per latest reports

@DBPardes

Having said that we are a planet that faces disasters, man made or natural year after year out of floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, Hurricanes or wars, civil unrest, and so on. At any given time, there is a section of humanity that is facing a crisis. And perhaps as the others keep living life to the fullest, we will need to take it in our stride and look for those pockets of happiness from their shared experience, audiences, their lives, their joy
