Holy, holy, holy to me (Kadosh) What is holy to you?

article image placeholderUploaded by @FSMDevotee
Hello. Good morning, flying spaghetti monster devotees. This is my morning devotional. And today I'm thinking about holiness because we never really talk about holiness anymore. I hear horrible things like it's holy to attack women, it's holy to attack gays, it's holy to kill. Um, that's not what's holy to me. So I want to talk about what's holy to me and to my God

And it got me to thinking, since I am an agnostic, I don't really acknowledge or dismiss the notion of God. So therefore I don't really think in holy terms that often. But things that are sacred to me, I guess I can give the usual list my kids, this, that sort of thing, but I don't know. It's holy. It's actually a term that I don't really use that much, even sacred

And it was a freaking goat. Not a human, not a think, actually. I actually think that was not such a bad idea, to put it on a goat. And I'm sure these were poor people. Later on, they fetched the goat, and that was dinner. That's how I perceive it nowadays. This is how the Jews do sort of the same thing, right? It's on Yom Kippur. So this is the holiest day of the year

As you can see, it's just little moments, right? Little moments of community and love and people stepping outside of their little box. That's what I find holy and

Whatever ministry that the Lord has given you, if you do it to his glory and give Him praise and honor for it and then do it the way that you should, I think that's holy. It's a holy attitude. So that's my perspective. Thank you so much

And so I'm going to break it here and I promise if it offends you just let me know and I won't bring it up again. But to me, the Christian Bible is an abomination. And that's because I know that's a bad word, but strong word, but it is because in the Christian Bible, you take what is my holy book and my living faiths and you call it the Old Testament

You. Thank you so much for your reply. I appreciate that. I appreciate that you have an opinion that is your own. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. My Bible will always remain holy because God has called it to be holy in my life. I don't know what it is in your life. According to you, it's an abomination. There are so many things that could be considered an abomination, but my Bible is not one

I totally respect this conversation between the two of you and I must admit, very ballsy of you to say such a thing. But I think that's what swell provides. It provides an open forum of dialogue that although people may not dis agree or may have the same beliefs, that they still can have constructive conversation. This was cool to hear

Well, I'm glad you saw it that way. And I will say this, that I have mostly actually black Christian friends who I love and adore and everything that makes them who they are is good in my book because they're amazing. But I will say also that I'm happy to see and I'm on TikTok lot. There are a lot of black women, especially, talking about deconstructing the Bible stories. Like this one woman has a whole series like the Bible don't make no sense

Hey there. So I actually don't know your real name so I'm just going to call you Oreo. I don't know. Or should I call you free? It I don't know. I have something to ask of you. I was wondering so just for some premium content on and I'm totally willing if you want to do some kind of exchange

Hello. I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but they have a private messaging feature here on Swell. So if you wanted to run those ideas by me, we could do it that way and that sounds like something I could do. Doesn't sound too painful. Of participation. Basically we both remain in character the whole time. I'll be the straight man, of course, while you are allowed to go as crazy as you would like to

It's not harming anyone else, might be helping someone else. And it's good. I feel good about it. So I think that's what I guess my definition of holy would be that it's something that we feel deeply good about. Yeah. Giving a thirsty animal water, for example, would be a very clear, very relatable thing that a lot of people could understand. That is something that is a good thing, and we feel good about it

It. Thank you so much for your response. And I have suffered horrifically in my life, and so I look back at the times that were quiet and good and just about spending time with my family and just simple and clear and being around my loved ones, and I haven't had a lot of that, unfortunately. And maybe that has made me appreciate just how precious and important they were. But I don't think it just happened that holy is conflated with evil

But how we use language, or don't use language tells a lot about our cultural values and discord values. Essentially, when you listen to someone, they'll tell you about themselves, usually somewhat, even if it takes some prompting, perhaps as people learn to understand one another and trust and build friendships. How we use language is really telling about someone. It's not just educational level or something, or intelligence level. It touches on a lot of things

You. What do I find sacred? Man, this is very interesting. What do I find Sacred? Oh, man. I guess it. I guess I find spending time with the family at the movie theaters or, I'm sorry, at the movie theater. I find that sacred. Just going to the movie theater is very sacred to me. I do not want movie theaters to disappear. I'd rather go to the movie theaters
