Surreal Swelling

article image placeholderUploaded by @FryedOreo
He bases a lot of his work in surreal dreams. So there's this juxtaposition. If you watch a lot of his films, there's these juxtaposition of images that seem odd. But when explained from the perspective of, like, dream logic, as it's called, it makes sense in terms of the psyche of the mind. And how we take in information based upon our perceptions. So what would a surreal swell sound like? I don't know

What would that sound like?

So you just saw a lot more just perspective shifts and cropping and just, I think at the time, probably what seemed nonsensical for people to be a part of a composition. And so I'm wondering. Yeah, like, what you were talking about, your experience being a bit nonsensical, but you're able to derive meaning for yourself. And I think that's just also the point of art. It's like, it's not necessarily about the artist, but the viewer

Yeah. Surrealist art often doesn't seem to make any sense because you logically just can't put the things together. So if you see an apple and a gun going through it, it's going to be weird. So it captures your imagination, your attention right away, I should say. But I think what we associate with these objects, what we associate with these concepts, it gives us new ways of interpreting that, perhaps. And, yeah, poetry might be up there, right?

I think a surrealistic swell would have intention behind it. Right. You could issue a challenge, hey, make a surrealistic swell, the person who replied to you, who wasn't making logical sense to you. I get that. I've come across that before, usually to me

It reminded me of like an SNL skit, like a Mike Myers skit with ripping up the piece of paper and then reading it and saying, it's a new poem. And I can almost see how it can be very. It can be perceived to be pretentious in a way, when you get to surreal art. I even know the black Dahlia. Right? The lipstick killer. He had the. It was believed he had a fetish for surreal art
