1 - Climate Forecasts [ Beneath the Surface ]

Trying to navigate the physical aspects of the ocean, along with the biology, the chemistry, every factor that goes into the changes is a daunting task, and even our most advanced ocean models have limitations. As a result, there's very little consensus on ocean modelling predictions right now, just that if we don't get our carbon emissions under control, it won't be pretty. To make more accurate predictions, incorporating our understanding of microbial life into our models will be instrumental

But from your perspective with the ecosystem, that you understand what's your ideal world look like when it comes to the consumption of fish, the fishing and then the consumption? I know it's a very big loaded question, but just from the perspective of a layperson making choices. Mostly I just eat salmon and I get rainbow trout. That's great. And I eat cod and occasionally halibut. That's what's available to me

Salmon, which you mentioned, and which I definitely eat the most of myself, is under threat right now, not just from overfishing, but from habitat loss and climate change too. But, I'm not going to tell you to lay off the salmon - be kinda' hypocritical if I did... Policy changes have a much bigger effect than individual consumer choices. So, fishing quotas, protective habitats, research and conservation funding, these are going to do a lot more to protect salmon than you or I switching to sardines could
