Setting rules of engagement in a new job

And one of the things that I said was that when you start with any new position and you're in that meeting with your boss, ask them what the rules of engagement are and simply say to them, you know what, I'm going to probably have a lot of questions early on. What's the best way to communicate with you? Should I text you? Should I email you slack? What's the best way?

First of all, your question about engagement, you know what frustrates me, and this is because I feel like a bit of an outlier when it comes to the world of corporate culture, is that questions need to be asked and protocol needs to be followed

So I always say to people, find an organization where you have a voice where you feel comfortable, because that's where you'll grow. You won't grow in cultures that won't let you be you or it won't let you speak freely. And they might disagree. You might disagree with them, but that's an opportunity as far as I'm concerned. When you have I remember when clients would go, no, I think I have an objection

@everystep A discussion corresponding to your last reply here: ttps://www.swellcast.com/t/STj8HqN5PrxKCRR

The general culture is one thing and the other thing is an individual frame of mind because you can very well have a good organization working pretty well, and one or the other leaders there may well be insecure emotionally. And when you ask a question, they feel confronted. They have to go into defense and instead of welcoming you your questions, they will just reply and not manage to be human anymore

You've got to remember a few things about is the timing right? Why do you want to ask them the question? Because you want to utilize their experience and also being respectful. And so when you make that person feel like that, you're going to have a higher likelihood of getting an answer that you want. I've had this happen to me before in corporate life before when I was managing teams
