If you had one standup routine, what would be your chosen topic? #AskSwell

If you had the stage and you wanted to make people laugh about a particular topic, what would that topic be? I am looking forward to hearing your answer. And you don't have to make a joke. You could be very serious in your response, or you can make me laugh a little bit, because that's what we do here, right? We laugh, we cry, we feel it's like a potpourri of emotions. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks

I would definitely do the topic of Boston accents, both male and female. Hi, Charlie. It's me, Auntie Bev. How you doing? Hey, what's up, Auntie? What's going on down there? Oh, you know, this and that. Nothing, you know, something like that. So, yeah, that'd be cool

Hey, Brenda. I love this topic, so I'm going to answer it while I'm sitting here in the pickup lane at Water World waiting for my very late kids to be the last ones apparently out of the park. But what I would I love this topic because what I would do stand up comedic performance about is the lack of female Comedics comedians in comedy

And as I replayed that, I realized that I started off saying Brenda for some reason. And thankfully, I finished up with your proper name, Deborah. So anyways, sorry about that

The subject back then for him was him being a relationship and the fights he had with his girlfriend and my ex. And I could relate because he mentions that they would be fighting and all of a sudden, women are so smart, and men might think that they're winning the argument, but in reality they're not, because women will always send the bomb at the end of the argument and be like, oh, well, you're just like your dad

And not just from the perspective of a male or from the perspective of a 29 year old woman who hasn't really experienced that much of life yet, to be really relatable to those topics. And I'd also be curious to see if that 29 year old female comedian will still be on stage at 49, because statistically and historically speaking, she won't be. But you do bring up a good point. Yes

But then people who are involved, the politicians, they make it funny by what they do and what they're expected out of them. So, yes, I guess now I have an answer to my own question that I've been asking myself for way too long. Female artists, female comedians. I guess we have very few in our country because we fear opening up. I guess we feel the society is judgmental

Deborah, I'm glad you brought this up. This is a terrific conversation starter. As far as I'm concerned. The reason it is so delightful is because I write comedy. I don't do standup comedy because I can no longer use my voice very well. But I have written standup comedy for several comedians, and, in fact, I just did a swell on that about three days ago, I guess it was

Love Mark. You are so right. I watch some fantastic young, fairly young. Some of them are in their forty s I think. But I watch a lot of female talent and they are just they just keep me in stitches. I remember when Ellen DeGeneres was young and first saw her at a comedy club. I can't think which one it was, but anyway, I saw her at a comedy club. I saw Roseanne when she was younger too. Those are some great, great talents

But there are some fantastic women out there and there always have been funny women, I think, and maybe I'm showing a prejudice here for which I apologize in advance, but I do think the women are more funny than the men. I hope we get more women, comedians of all ages. Um, you know, older women still have a lot to give and like I say, Jeannie was probably in her seventy s, at least in her 70s. Okay?

And, gosh, if I were you, I'd keep it up. I'd keep it up, for sure. But anyway, thanks for letting us see that, because, quite frankly, I was very impressed

Hi, Deborah, thank you for posting your stand up routine. I just watched it on YouTube and I really liked it last several times. And, yeah, I think it's very la because of how food centric it was. But, yeah, no, you had a great energy and I think you should do it again, for sure

Hey. I just want to reply to everybody on this thread so far, it's been such a delight. For those of you who watch my YouTube, thank you so much and for also sharing new names of new comedians. And fast. Thank you for the sex life of college students. I never thought I'd watch it, but I'm taking your advice and I'm going to do it. And Mark, of course, for your insights

What I mean by that is they're talking about politics in such a nasty, negative way that it's infusing itself with the media, and it's becoming part of the media. And that's not a good thing, really, because people don't go to watch a comedian to watch the news. But anyway, I don't want to take any more time here, but I think you have a lot of options. And I do believe if you wanted to go back into comedy, you could

My send up routine will be about being a mother to three girls that act just like me. That right there will be hilarious

And if you go off script and you have to interact with the audience, you're going to have the knowledge and be the kind of expert in the room and try and do stuff that makes you laugh. That would be my advice

You. Well, that one's a hard one because there's so many topics to talk about that could be funny because I've been a bartender, a teacher, yoga traveler. I mean, we have so many stories to tell. That really FAS. They're saying goes, you can't make this shit up. I mean, I think you have to give me a topic because really, we can't make shit up. I could start by saying, let's see

You. I love this question. I would love to be a comedian. Everybody tells me I'm funny all the time. That's beside the point, though. I think that my topic would be being a Gen X mom, grandma, dogmom, catmom friendmom, sometimes my husband mom to the group of kids that runs around town that I don't even know half their names. Plant mom. Yeah, all of those things stay at home mom. It's a lot of stuff

Okay, cool. Like, Chelsea Handler is probably one of the few that I would say, yeah, that bitch, she knows. So, menopause, what's up? I just cantu to hear that. And like you said, I would like for my husband to be the brunt of the joke every so often
