They're huge institutions that are powerful in their ability to act as, quote, people in our society. They have votes, they have the ability to push legislation through lobbying. It's an incredible disservice to all of us to think that we can go to work and ignore the policies of our companies that we work for. We have to figure out what their moral compass is, where their values lay and how they make decisions based on those values

#AskSwell | do you work at a corporation that has spoken out against the anti-trans legislation?

Like, they're treated as these very singular beings that have, you know, so much sway and so much pull, and a lot of that has to do with money. But let's be fair about when we talk about corporations, because that's literally what they are. I'm all for Pride Month. I'm all for the support and people getting the recognition they deserve

And it's everything from us being able to use a public restroom without fear of bullying, harassment, even being killed or arrested in some places, having access to gender affirming care, which is absolutely life saving care for us. I know, speaking for myself, if I did not have access to my gender affirming hormone therapy, testosterone, it would certainly cause me a lot of mental anguish and fear and I'm not exactly sure how I would handle it

Hey, Liam, really nice to hear your voice. And thank you so much for your impassioned plea for us to be aware of who we do business with. Can you tell us about a corporation that you would give an A to that has stood up and been out loud about the legislation, the antitrans legislation or any legislation for that matter, that rolled up their sleeves and got dirty about it?

And then behind closed doors, they're doing something else, and they're not following suit with what they say they're all about. Right. And theo when you bring up these conversations with these company leaders, the first thing that you hear from them is, well, it's political, and we don't want to get involved in political issues. Well, you are involved when you're donating money to politics that are totally against our community
