"…And this past few months, there's a couple of special exhibits, one on empathy, one on sleep. And then there art, some regular exhibits. So I'm going to pop around and show you all kinds of things. I hope you enjoy it. And if you're ever in Baltimore, check out the American Vision Art Museum. I think they have a really cool online presence as well. So here we go.…"

10 facts about compassion

"…On the walk into the Museum, there's a beautiful poster with the Dalai Lama. And it's about the ten facts about compassion. Perfect way to start the day. I hope you can hear me through my mask. So I'll just take a picture of it and you could read it. It's beautiful. We are hardwired for compassion for birth. Really nice idea. I love the last one. Being compassionate is associated with increased happiness. Well being and purpose.…"

"…And he was born in 1957 and he made this in 2012. And it's made out of piano parts, mannequins. And he's a big tinkerer. And I'm just trying to read his description here. Yeah. Really interesting. Hope you enjoy. Go do a detail shot as well.…"

Going up the stairs

"…So the Museum is three levels and you walk up these stairs that are kind of winding and you can go really slowly because on the right hand side, they always have these great sayings to kind of take you on your way. And you could see in this picture there's a really cool sculpture hanging with it's, like Icarus, I believe, falling from the sun, made of beautiful pieces of glass. And he's just suspended in the air. It's really beautiful.…"

The pandemic timeline Nancy josephson

"…I'm looking at something called the Pandemic Time Markers, and it's an installation by Nancy Josephson, and I'll read you the description here. In March, as the shutdown was announced, I decided to use this particular luxury of time to work on techniques I hadn't done before. I've been known for my sculptural lead work. Painting seemed daunting, but here I was with time on my hands, materials from years of collecting and no excuse.…"

"…Gerald further explained, finally, people were inspired to value beauty over fear. And then there's a note underneath it. Each match stick represents a human being. My work shows the beauty and strength of what can happen when people work together. So beautiful.…"

Esther Krinitz - embroidery

"…And then she married a guy named Max, and they were able to get over to the United States. And this entire exhibit is all these amazing pieces of embroidery that tells the story of different times in her childhood. And I'm going to show you a picture of her childhood home. It looks beautiful and peaceful, but it's also where her family was killed. So it's got layers to it. I'm obviously, because it's embroidery.…"

We Remember

"…Edelman, if we don't stand up for our children, then we don't stand for much. Estimates over 40 million victims of forced labor still are happening today. 40 million victims who are enforced marriages, sex trafficking considered modern day slaves. Just breathe this one in as we look at the beauty around us. But I like how there's a light next to each group of people, kind of lights it up so we can remember and move with them in our hearts.…"

Recipe for good sleep

"…I want to lay on that bed. There's a beautiful in praise of Naps talking about the history of Siesta. There's another bed. There's a really cool. That is really provocative. It is, etching. I think of some sort by Adrian Kellard The Baptism of Christ What this has to do with sleep? I don't know. I guess it helps you sleep when it's above your bed. Am I sleeping? Have I slept at all? This is insomnia.…"

Gift shop - boxes of fun

"…I'm entering into the very famous gift shop. The last time I was here, I got squirrel underpants because that's what I needed. I needed squirrel underpants. They were like a little cardboard cut out of a squirrel and had little little underpants that you can give to somebody who has everything. I got squirrel underpants. The curation of the store is unbelievable. They have all sorts of figurines and weird pieces of gum with weird cinematic imaging on them and Elvis flipbooks.…"

Paul Spooner

"…In the separate part of the Museum, this big, huge kind of warehouse space. They have exhibits of Paul Spooner's work. He makes these little wooden objects that are all mechanized. So they turn and they do some super weird funny things. He's got a great sense of humor. And there must be about 30 little groupings of his work. And they're all funny commentaries on the world. He's got like animals typing and dogs driving and mermaids. And these are smaller scale.…"

Kinetic sculpture race May 7

"…It's probably even worth a trip if you're into this kind of stuff. These are all sculptures that are built by people, inspired by things that happened in ancient Greece, ancient China. And there's a couple of other big, huge dogs and drag Queens and cars. It's really a cool space. And you can probably see a lot of that also on this website, Kinetic baltimore.com.…"

"…Deborah this was such a treat. I'd never heard of the Visionary art Museum. I love visionary art. It's making me laugh. I had no idea this even existed. I'm a huge fan of, say, Alex Gray, Android Jones, many outsider artists as well. So this is just immediately added to my list. Thank you so much for the tour. I'm now running off to go see what else I can find about the Museum.…"

"…If you have the opportunity, is the Pipelatti wrist exhibit that's at the Mocha Geffen now the La Times, I think, did a review of it that said, this is what that Van Go Immersive exhibit wanted to be. It is amazing. I wish that I'd had swell when I was going through there just to describe how wonderful and incredible and immersive this video art installation is. But who knows, maybe you'll be able to do that one for us.…"
