#TellYourStory | When have you felt trapped in a situation that was out of your control?

article image placeholderUploaded by @DBPardes
Because when you think about being stuck on a plane, minutes feel like hours. I want to ask you if you've ever been in a situation where you were stranded and stuck and it was out of your control, but you were trapped and how did it feel? I'd love to hear your stories about this. I'm linking the story about the plane here so you can take a look at some of the more details. But it made me think, what do we do in situations like this?

Violation trap

And I was petrified and I felt trapped because there was nowhere to go. I'm in the plane, like, there was nothing to do. But luckily, that feeling left me and I was just fine, thank God, because at that moment, I felt like I was going to snap. Didn't snap. I didn't snap. Crackle and pop like I thought I was. Another situation was very intense situation. I don't have that long to tell it

If I had been alone, maybe I would have got frustrated and really wouldn't have known what to do. But having company made a lot of difference. So thank you for this topic. Have a lovely day. Bye

And at the time, I had been proctoring the state exam, and I was in a room with probably about ten other students. Most of them did not speak English. They were ESL students. They spoke English, but it was very broken at the time. And I remember we were put on lockdown, and I was in the room with these kids. And I was pretty scared, obviously, because I had been through something similar before a couple of times

Silence

Well, it turns out that the man that my mother had been living with was an abuser. So I ran right into it. And one memory I have is being in the basement on a mattress somewhere, and just this heaviness on top of me and the terror and the fear. And it was cold outside, and I'm from a warm island, so it was very surreal, and there was nothing I can do

Trapped in a van

Like, I don't know how much money, some money, but I guess I could go into more detail, but I don't know what to say about it except for the fact that I felt stuck. I felt trapped in e haul van and a u haul van with three strangers on the road and miles away from home

Now, the space that your feet are walking on is probably no more than five inches wide and there's water flowing over it. And you're carrying a pack that weighs about 50 pounds, 40 to 50 pounds. So you're being very careful not to fall because you're a long ways from the nearest hospital. So we get to our spot, we camp the first night and then there's plenty of mosquitoes and a little bit of adventure there. We hung our packs, of course

And in that seeking, sometimes people lose their lives. And what once was in your control, the decision to go was then out of your control. When you are in the flows of what the decision yielded, this new adventure. And then things happen that are just so scary. I'll never forget that movie. I saw 127 hours. It really spooked me. But I'm really happy everything worked out for you. Bye

Now I feel trapped because I don't know what to do, because I have morals, and he's like, well, if you would have knew I was married in the beginning, would you have told me? What is the situation that we're dealing with here? I'm a widow now, but I buried my ex with a girlfriend. But we truly weren't together. We had not been together in years. We didn't even live in the same house

I think he was a country singer. And this was getting towards the end of my book. So I went over and asked this man if he would like to be interviewed, and he said he would love to. So I set up a meeting. I'm going to try to make this as short as possible, because it was years. Went to the man's house. He was about 80 years old, and this was, like, seven years ago. Did the interview

Susie, thank you for sharing that story. And I'm so upset that stalking is not a crime until it becomes a crime. It doesn't make sense. There needs to be more safeguards. That seems like an ever present stress for you. And what a specific way of feeling trapped. It's very, very scary. Glad you could talk about it. It's almost a release. When you do, you doesn't grip you anymore. Appreciate it very much. Thank you for sharing

I was going to get a protective order, but I was told, and I'm sure all women have been told this and heard this throughout their life and know other women that like domestic violence and different situations, if you take out a protective order with someone who's a narcissist or mentally ill and very possessive, they become worse. So the police says you could do that, but then it would be a crime if he trespasses on your property
