#TellYourStory | I wish we could spend this holiday together…

But it doesn't mean that you can't tell their stories and talk about who they are and time you spent with them in the past that makes you think about them now during the holidays. I would love to hear that story from you. I want to tell you about somebody who I would love to spend the holidays with. And it's my dad, but he's no longer with us. He passed on about ten years ago, but I loved being with him. He just brought great joy

When my kids were small, me in their faces would light up Christmas morning and we would always give them a gift the night before Christmas, like at twelve midnight, they would get a gift they could open. And because my daughter's birthday is on the 21st, she would already get a Christmas gift, I mean a birthday gift. And then she'd get additional Christmas gifts just a couple of days later. So it was always like this major celebratory time during the month

It would be really nice to have the whole family together for the upcoming festivities. But then, you know, somebody's traveling, somebody is in another state, somebody's in another country. So what does one do? Maybe do a call on FaceTime to connect. That's the best option. As of now. I don't know what to do. I have the same dilemma as you because I too lost my dad, and he cannot be with me

The person I wish I could spend another Christmas with is Monsignor Reinish. Monsignor Reinish was a Catholic priest in a small town in Missouri where I and my family lived for few years. And he really taught me or showed me how magical Christmas could be. We would go to midnight mass and so we would dress up and we would drive for maybe 30 minutes to get to this small Catholic church

I lean into Victorian Christmas. The Father Christmas motif. Like today. If you were to come to my house, you would see Santa Claus on top of my tree. But a lot of woodland creatures as ornaments and acorns and a lot of that kind of thing. Birds and so forth. As I was building up my own traditions and then, of course, made them my family's traditions, I wanted fruitcake

But then things changed. And as an adult, I don't have any great holiday memories with her. And I would love the opportunity to be able to relive that. I would love the opportunity to be able to create more of those. But she's here with me in spirit. And my grandmother as well. She was the cake lady. She was the one that cooked all the good food. And she also passed. She passed a year after my mom

And my mom would just hand the phone to me, and we would talk on the phone for hours. She even wrote me a few letters right before she had passed away. I think she knew she was leaving me. I'm her second grandchild, her first granddaughter, and her middle child's first born as well. So there's a lot of first for a lot of big things going on

Today is the first night of Hanukkah, and it's a Thursday. I live over 400 miles away, so it's not possible at this point to celebrate unless we do it via Zoom. But there are eight days, so you for now. But thanks for posting this. Definitely appreciate it. Bye
