And then reluctantly I would head home. Except I never got to Colombia. And instead I was waylaid to this beach town on the north coast of Ecuador that was just paradise. Beautiful beach, really interesting people, locals and travelers. And I fell in love. I fell in love with the place and I fell in love with a local boy. And before I knew it we had moved into a house together and we were living our lives on the beach

You know, this story is so fantastical. I mean, for so many reasons. But we are living in a time right now where people don't understand what it was like to not have cell phones and WhatsApp and FaceTime and parents can find and track their kids anytime they want.
