What is Gaslighting?

article image placeholderUploaded by @Brkntobldness
I've outlined many of these red flags in my novel Torched Burnt by a gaslighting. But if you want to see it in action, then you need to see the 1944 failed gaslight with Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyyer. Not only is Ingrid Bergman love bombed into marriage with Charles Boyer, he begins to make innuendos about her memory. He isolates her so she doesn't leave the house and plays tricks on her mind

Being able to put that out there in a book and help people kind of track your life and then track their own, that's the power of our memoirs. That's how amazing it is when someone's very, very personal story can be so universal and it's just such a gift to everybody that people take the time to write their story. And there's a root of, like, kindness that comes when you're a kind person. Gaslighting is just not something in your purview

So that by the time they were in a romantic connection with their abuser or abusers, then the love bombing, the gas lighting, and all of the dynamics and characteristics they're in, it was easy and easier for them to experience it without alarm because they had already previously experienced it before

So that's where my downfall kind of came in and that's something that I'm working on even so, to this day is determining those boundaries and not letting others cross that line and being able to speak up and when someone is crossing or trying to cross that line. So there's a lot of learning and growing and healing that comes from being from surviving these types of relationships. So again, it's a day by day process, step by step forward

However, what you described in terms of your faith and people that emphasized the principles of your faith community in terms of doing to others almost to the point of where you neglect yourself. Because I grew up Southern Baptist, which is also rooted in Christianity. And that's the thing. The thing was you almost kill yourself or you die to the needs of self just to be there for other people. But as you mentioned, to your own detriment
