But I ask why did he hit? The author of this poem is Paulette Kelly. I heard this for the first time yesterday afternoon as I was at an event raising awareness on gas, lighting and domestic violence. The one woman we were honoring was brutally murdered by her abuser. She was hit in the head 13 times with a claw hammer. I hope this poem had the same effect on you as it did on me

They can look out their window and maybe know that there's a group that's going to take care of them. I think in past years, there's been so much isolation and I think there was no vocabulary for it, and now there is. So thank you so much for being on this platform to speak into this concept of, I guess, how powerful it is to speak the names of people who've been abused and who've been killed
