Putting Yourself First

article image placeholderUploaded by @bradwcarlson
It's okay to prioritize your health and well being above your kids, above your spouse, above your job, above everything that you've got going on. And when you do do this, and when you do it regularly and you practice it a lot and consistently, you're going to find that you become more centered, more grounded, more relaxed, and better able to approach your day. And to go about your day and to be a better parent

And I think it's really helpful for people to sort of look at that as a possibility and know how to handle people calling them perhaps selfish or self centered or whatever people do when they're not seeing clearly what someone's trying to do in the long term. Because it makes so much sense, especially the way you framed it. But I think people might have a question around, like, how do I deal with someone challenging me in this regard?

I have a tendency to feel like that at times because I have so many kids that are relying on me that I'm raising. I have a special needs son. He's type one diabetic and also has autism. So my time is pretty much my pie chart is all devoted to raising my grandkids now and raising my special needs son
