Inequality isn't an accident

So I'd love if you took a moment to watch this video and offered any of your reactions or questions about what's here and also maybe share a bit how you've experienced or seen systemic racism and inequality playing out in your own life. And maybe it's one small way that you or PC people you admire are pushing us in the right direction for equality for all

Let's talk about systemic #racism πŸ’‘ https://s.swell.life/SSHrQdE7qhpWWVa #blacklivesmatter #georgefloyd #equality

The sad facts behind Adult Literacy rates and racism

I got very involved with adult literacy. It's a long story, but I got to know a lot of people in the business of teaching adults who read at a fourth grade level how to finally read it in their 50s and 60s, sometimes even younger. But a lot of times they awoke to their rights late in life. And I would hear stories all the time of discrimination against people with low literacy and other were looked upon with disgust and disdain

Rachel, thank you for this lovely video. And it opened my eyes to something that I really hadn't focused on before, which is the connection between local funding of education and sort of an endless a cycle of poor schools producing poor outcomes and poor employment, low jobs, low wages and poverty and neighborhoods. So I think that if any single thing lies at the heart of the problem, it's this connection between education and property tax that really is worth thinking about

As far as the kind of micro and macro actions we can take to build a sustainable practice on a daily basis that in some ways it is subverting different kinds of oppression and power structures that are not creating an equal world for all. So thank you so much for offering that. And David, I love what you had to say, pointing out what in the video felt really essential to you or enlightening as far as thinking about property taxes, creating this pattern that we've seen over and over again

Thank God people have cell phone cameras now, or else the cases that we've been seeing, you know, we would have just been given the official police report, and everybody would have believed it because everybody has this inherent belief that police officers are good or most of them are good. And I don't believe that. I believe out of 100% of police officers, you might have a very small portion that are doing all the outrageous stuff. True enough

Excellent Topic!!

And if you do this at a higher rate, something that I thought was really heinous that America was able to do was to put those Vulture capital loan sharp places and communities of color and where other have these super high interest rates, we have to sue in order to get that out of other community. So this is a real issue in America, and it's really good to talk about it, but also too

Some good news about micro transformations

There's about 3000 residents in a bunch of different buildings, and they wanted to close the community quarry to people that were nonresidents because they felt that it was just ruining their community. And there was a lot of cloaked language in the email. And my other of all people called out the homeowners Association and said, and this is right in the middle of the George Floyd uprising, and this would not have happened had there not been so much conversation around racism and bias and people's language around stuff
