Fred Rogers: My Hometown Hero

article image placeholderFred Rogers
Hey, everyone, I was inspired to share a little bit about a hobby I picked up over the pandemic because we were talking about this in another conversation. And that hobby is doing digital drawings. And this is when I did did recently for a friend. And it's a Fred Rogers, who I would say is my hometown hero. And if you don't know of Fred Rogers, he's also known as Mr. Rogers of the television series Mr. Rogers'neighborhood, which ran from 1968 to 2001

Who is your hometown hero and why? #pittsburgh #misterrogers #inspiration

And then on top of that for his sweater, I wanted to cross stitch and embroidery into the canvas to make it look like he had a fuzzy sweater on. And I don't know, I kind of gave up halfway through because I was like, I don't know if this is good or cringey, or I don't know what I'm doing here, but I really love Mr. Rogers. He's an amazing person

So there's also a narcissistic complex going on, too. Fred Rogers, when I was a kid in the 70s, in the 70s, there was Sesame Street, and it would be Mr. Rogers. And then there would be the electric Company. And then Zoom. Right. And the electric company had Spiderman in it and also had Morgan Freeman as Easy Reader. And he had this smooth stride down the street. It was a badass show

@Artist.Amiraa Thank you ♥️

And it makes me so happy because I have such positive associations with Mr. Rogers'neighborhood and the experience you described having as a kid stuck with me so much. And to this day, I returned to it when I need those reminders still, as an adult that I like you just the way you are right. It will never get old. And I only hope to emulate the compassion and Grace and thoughtfulness that he chose to guide his life

@AverageJoe Cheers 🥃

I did not see the Tom Hanks movie, mostly because of everything you just said where I just had this feeling that it wasn't necessarily going to be for me. I do eventually want to get to it just because of my interest in Fred Rogers and being from Pittsburgh and all of that and my sister in law actually worked on it. But hearing your experience of it is a little validating, just like from my initial impression

First Boa. I just want to say I knew it. I knew it. I knew it was an attack on me, and it's not that I have some sort of a mental issue. I can't wait to get back into theaters. I'm over here. We might have a line on getting the old vaccine soon, and I'm really excited that's the one plus about being 50 in my state. They just opened up vaccines for people my age
