#COP28 news - noting the #methane opportunity and negative (and massive) influence of Big Agriculture

Scientists said that unless swift action is taken, methane from agriculture alone will push the world beyond a 1.5 degrees Celsius rise in temperature above preindustrial levels. That risks tipping the world into irreversible climate breakdown. This is in a story by Rachel Sherington in The Guardian and in the same paper there's an article a little bit further talking about the big topics, the things that really need to happen at Cop

When you open up methane impact to the AG industry, there's a mind shift that happens. And so much of what you've done on Living Change is highlight folks who live a plant based diet life, right? Or make plant based choices in their life. But there's a piece of this, too, in big AG, which is food waste. And I'm not talking about the half absurding of green beans that's left when you're full at dinner

Millions of people are fed each day by prison systems and in the hospital industry. And wouldn't it be interesting, and maybe there are studies to show whether or not there's even a switch, percentage wise, a different kind of food pyramid that changes the way food is supplied, served, supplied, particularly in the hospital world. I always find it fascinating how imbalanced the meals are

@lauriemcginley #food #foodwaste - #climateinfluence

I want to build community and kind of represent as a collective that there is leadership in food waste, addressing food waste, and there is leadership in plant based and all of these solutions to this ridiculous big AG situation that's going on. So thank you really very much, Lori, for bringing that up. I appreciate it

Those are organizations that are doing also amazing things in institutional and corporate food policy shifts and highly recommend it. So, yes, elevating all of these solutions and these amazing things that are happening and these are in these United States that tend to be so backwards on this stuff. So thank you for asking that question, Deborah
