Narcissism - a societal or individual issue? bonus: big ol rant LOL

article image placeholderUploaded by @xtinawaffles
And there are so many countless articles, life coaches, videos, books. It's a whole what they call an industrial complex of huge body of work out there around Narcissists and kind of want to first say how over diagnosed that is. Because first of all, it is an actual actually a diagnosable personality disorder in the DFM. And people I think have just taken that and just ran with it and it's just caught on like hotcakes. It's sold like hotcakes

So narcissism, trauma, psychopathy, sociopaths, Albius, language, understanding that the words like crazy, insane, lame are actually clinical terms that meant something bad to say about someone in a slang sort of way. There's a lot of renaissance of intellectualism that's going on now because of social media. But with that also comes monetization. So one pattern I have noticed with social media is you take whatever sort of subset of a group there is and you type it in like, let's say autism

One of the points that you're talking about is like, the monetization of how social media can kind of exacerbate this and we kind of see that correlation quantified by social media. So, yeah, it's kind of interesting to think about how social capital does on some level equal actual capital. And we need capital to live, so we need it to exist in this world at least

Oh, yeah. And to your very last point about America, yes, America is definitely complicit in all of this. But it's also, I think, worth mentioning that any quality that you might assign to a narcissist, you can probably just as easily assign it to any number of systems of oppression, I e. Capitalism, et cetera

Yes, he has billions, but he had to work for every penny that he got. And when we get into unionized, the anti unions of these billionaires and how they hate unions and unions, they enforce these regulations that make workers human. It can affect the billions tremendously. Right? Yeah, maybe that has some credence towards Narcissism, but I'm really going to honestly have to you seem to know your s***. You seem to have got your s*** together

@FryedOreo yay fellow jungian!!

Here a pattern of self centered, arrogant thinking, lack of empathy, consideration for other people, excessive need for admiration. Yeah, you can see how you can apply this list to any large corporation, including Starbucks or Norfolk Southern. And it's ridiculous. That's never really the conversation in the narcissist. Some conversations or communities, it's rarely talking ever about that. But that's my personal beef. Anyway, thank you for engaging and humoring this topic
