If you crack a joke, something takes 5 seconds to say you may just make somebody else's day better. You may make them smile. You may give them a feeling that they'll remember for the rest of that day, maybe the rest of that week. It'll give them a positivity that they might have been sad and now they're not anymore. Just because you said five, six, maybe seven words, seven words that seemed small to you but made all the difference to them

And I remember in college, I would make it a point to make eye contact and smile at people when I was walking the halls, when I was getting food, whatever. It doesn't matter. And it always fascinated me how I could see that radiance, that happiness transport from me and into somebody else when they recognized me, saw me smiling at them, and then smiled back. And there didn't need to be a conversation. It was just a simple acknowledgment
