That being said, this is a very interesting story about freedoms and about what it is that a teacher can and cannot do outside of their classroom world in their free time and how that would impact their teaching. Now, on one hand, I would say if this person is not doing anything illegal and is not harming anyone, then I'm not so sure that it's right for her to be fired. Now, I don't know what kind of agreement teachers have within their schools

Hey Phil, I hear what you're saying and I think that you have to take a step back and look at this. I don't think this is so much about the freedom of speech portion of this person's life as it is to be addressed to the agreement they made when they signed a contract with the school district. And because many contracts for many different industries have morals clauses where you aren't allowed to do certain things

They didn't do anything illegal. It upsets certain people from certain religious backgrounds and in general as well. I don't think that they really gave enough information to make a judgment. But either way, it's a really unfortunate situation. Good morning

And so I really think this is just going to end up being a basic contract law that's part of what she had agreed to when the district negotiated with the teachers and that it will be found that she was in violation of her ethics and morals clause. That's what I really think it's going to come down to

As I said, they don't make sense always or they shouldn't at least be imposed on everyone and people say, oh well, you don't have to take the job well, teaching is a good job, so why should people be denied entry for something that is based on something that does not affect their ability to do their job? But yeah, this does get into other issues that I have very sharp disagreements with about the role of public sector unions and such
