Pirate Eyes

article image placeholderUploaded by @Urbanlegends
Whenever a photon of light enters your eyes, it collides with our photoreceptors. Occasionally, it will strike some of the retinol that the opsins are holding. The impact dislodges the retinol from the opson, which the photoreceptor perceives and sends a signal to your brain, indicating that light is present. Considering the constant interaction between light and our photoreceptors, you might wonder why we don't eventually go blind, as all of our retinol gets knocked out eventually
